Abandoned 340 spotted in Reading

Post by Alanovich » 17 Feb 2011 12:16 pm

Just this morning I noticed a white 340 GL sitting gathering moss all over its bodywork in a driveway in Reading. Obviously the car hasn't been used for some time and the grass is growing under its wheels. God knows how I've never spotted it before, I drive down that road every weekday morning.

It is parked in the driveway of a largeish detached house in one of Reading's most expensive areas - evidently it's owned by a pensioner who can no longer afford its keep. I suspect that, beneath the moss, is a car with a really good history.

It's one of the latest models with the last generation rear lights and badges, so probably a G to J reg.

If anyone's interested in seeing some pics, I'll try to get some - or if you're interested in enquiring after purchasing the car then I can PM you with its location and I'd happily drop a note through the letterbox for you.

No interest then?

Had a bit of a better look today - it's a 5-door E-reg.

Finally took a picture of it this morning.

Looks a right shed clsoe up to be honest. Might be some good mechanicals underneath but the body looks pretty shot. It's rusted through around the windows for a start, must be rotten underneath.

BTW - how do I post the picture itself directly in to a message? Can't work it out, dullard that I am.
