EMV Restrictor Valve Strip down (possible fix)

Post by lewy » 02 Sep 2011 10:55 pm

Hi,
After the long running problems with my 340 cvt low vacc pressure!

Today stripped the EMV into bits and got the Retrictor Valve out, this included the spring, plastic top hat and the diaphram. Also noticed an adjuster grub screw that adjusted the pressure on the resrictor valve spring.
Had to dig out the resin that blocked the screw slot on top of the EMV and then i could adjust spring pressure, got 400mBar so over the moon, but the sring has lost its strength and dropped back to 300mBar, so put a bigger spring in, glued it all back together and now have 450mBar (happy days :D ).
I guess the adjusting screw is set at the factory from new so not sure how it should be set, but did notice after a while adjusting it made no difference on the mBar reading.
340 runs quite nice now, even had 2100revs @30mph! if i dont touch the throttle pedal!!!!

any ideas on this and what i have done?
lewy.
this cvt project drives me mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jup around 400mBar is how it's supposed to be. problem is that the large O-rings that seal the EMV can also cause the leakage rather than a tension-low spring
