Re: Introduce me and my lovely car :)
Jay managed to track down a 1.4 vario with only 1500 miles on it, but that's a close second. Makes my 1980 343 with 11k on it seem like it's half worn out!
Welcome. I see you fitting in nicely

I had a '74 ex-fire brigade Ford Transit a few years back. Bought it with about 10,000kms on the clock and doubled it within a few months

Re: Introduce me and my lovely car :)
Hi mate and welcome.
Some car for the mileage.
I was at ballymena classic car show recently and there was a 1977 VW Beetle there
with less than 40 yes 40 miles on the clock.
The car has spent all its life in the show room.33years.
Cheers Mark.

Re: Introduce me and my lovely car :)
There's a place in London selling a load of delivery-mileage Austin Minis at the moment (for about £12-13k each), but the most epic one I've seen was a barn find - two E30 M3s and a 190E Cosworth Evo 2, all with delivery mileage. There was also an RS200, but that had been used...albeit not very much!

Re: Introduce me and my lovely car :)
Hi again all! I just returned to free time, after around a year of overwork, and no free internet time.
Just an update : The old girl now has 22K, from her original 5k. Not TOO bad for around 18 months.
And she is still original to the bone, apart from an ariel replacement ( thanks local chavs, you dicks ), and the plugs/leads/exhaust i had to do when i got her ). Even the wheels are original and NO dents! ( oh, and i changed the cassette deck stereo, after a second trip to scotland with just medium wave radio i HAD too...hehe )
Anyway, feels good to be back, and i am looking forward to catching up here.
:)
( edited to add the bit about the stereo )

Good to see you back dude.
Nice to have a bit of free time, but youve got barely anything to do (to the car).

Re: Introduce me and my lovely car :)
Hehe! Thanks volvosneverdie !
Nope, i want to keep her as she is, i have been told to anyway.
It IS tempting to drop a "lump" into her, but i don't have the need. She does over a ton ( eventually, as i found out after the service man on the last MOT told me to "give her some on the motorway to clear her out a bit ). And i am far from a boy racer now, and certainly don't want to drift. ( After bikes though it DOES feel like i am steering a ship more than driving a car, hehe )
But it IS good to be back, i am having lotsa fun lurking around here again ( even though i feel a TINY bit out of place because i don't want to weld diff, add a lump, lower my suspension etc ).

Re: Introduce me and my lovely car :)
Theres always been a 50/50 ish mix between modders and "origonals" on here, so no need to feel out of place.jjonn wrote:

Re: Introduce me and my lovely car :)
Thank you volvosneverdie again!
Actually, i do feel " at home " here, and i did when i first posted 18 months ago, but i still feel a little out of place : I am not a mechanic, electrician, do not track race, drift, and i am happy ( ish, hehehe ) with everything, and i like the idea of being an "original"
:)
It really is that i am ( was ) a biker at heart, but actually i now love being in a heated vehicle, with space for 4 passengers, and a HUGE boot!
I just also feel a little greedy for always asking, never offering information to you guys ( and gals i guess). Oh yeah, and it also feels in the car like i am sat in a sofa seat, not a drivers seat ( no i wont change my seat! )

Hi mate.
Welcome back. I wondered where that motor had gone. Glad to see its alive and well.
Don't worry about the drift thing. Everyone has a place here.I used to slag of the drifters
but since becomeing an old fart
, i think its a good way to keep the younger
blokes interested in the 300 cars. Plus i went rallying this year and it was bloody good fun
Cheers Mark.

Re: Introduce me and my lovely car :)
Well, hurrah! My brake lights stopped working last night, and the indicator was being "silly". Called out a good friend, because i am a numpty when it comes to cars, and it turned out to be an "earth " problem. Oh, and some "adjustments" the old boy that owned her made before i got her., All sorted, 8 pounds.
So, 1 exhaust ( all 3 bits, bummer), 1 windscreen repair, plugs, leads, fuel lines, filters, oil change etc, and, 18k added after i got her with 2 trips to Scottish highlands since, from Southampton, 18 months i guess, she now at 22k, and she never once failed to start. Good girl:):)
Body etc still perfect, and one day i may clean the engine ( is there a point? dunno...)
Seat is still like a sofa cushion, and handling a little like a boat, but i love her ( awwwwww). Yes, i am still talking about the car.......

Re: Introduce me and my lovely car :)
Hiya all!
Been a long time since i posted, but the car is still perfect, running, and still mine.
I never believed that i would keep it, truth be told, but:
I did, i still drive daily, and wow, for such a silly old thing ya wouldn't believe the attention it gets:
I was in traffic, no movement for a couple of minutes, and then a taxi driver got out of his car 2 lanes across, and stomped across to me: i dont mind admitting i half shat myself. He knocked on the window and started saying how much he liked them ( volvo340gle, lol),
I was in a certain fast food place with my brother, he jumped up after looking out the window thinking someone was trying to steal the car, hahaha! Turned out to be just a 340 fan i guess..
And finally, was in Locks Heath the other day, and was waiting to pull out ( the car, naughty!) , when a guy shouted and ran out into the road at me ( safely of course ) and, long story short, his name was Mike, he is a member on another Volvo forum, and had seen the car around, but never got the chance to "pull me over". Hehehehehe
Anyway, soz ta bore
