There isn't a dedicated R-Sport bottom end (at least not according to my sources). The kit (like the 343 B19 kit) was designed as an add-on (easy bolt-on) to an existing B230A (for example). In other words, it was a high compression turbo setup, using a stock carb or injection block and head. If the GL has low compression pistons, they're presumably standard 240 turbo ones.
I always mix these things..

It has lower compression pistons from 240 turbo. At least the papers what came with the car says that.
How's this for a suggestion...I think you've got a great deal to gain from going to an EMS setup like Megasquirt, especially if it does have the high compression bottom end, which requires more precise tuning to get the most out of it. The 'piggyback' systems like this are rather yesterday's technology.
Of course it depends on your priorities! I may well be inheriting a 240 at some point, and if I decide to keep it, I'll be seeking out the R-Sport turbo carb kit for it

Waaay more ghetto than a piggyback system, but retro-cool too

That's a very good suggestion and I have many plans but my time and funds are kinda limited.

I have thought about MS and it seems to be the best solution. It wouldn't be too hard to fit because I could make an adapter and use the existing wiring loom and I have schematics for the wirings of LE-Jetronic. Yeah piggypack systems are kinda old tech but the car was built in late 80's/early 90's so it kinda fits into the picture. But before all upgrades I'll have to get all main things in order. Suspension needs to be replaced and an intercooler would be nice too but I'm in no hurry. The car is very nice to drive now and I'll upgrade things without hurrying.

Yeah, steady is usually the best way...or at least gathering as much information as possible. Unless you're a genius, rushing things can make it all go very wrong
I think I'm right in saying that Fuse didn't do the conversion - he bought it (more or less) as-is. He may well know what the guy did though. Reading between the lines, he added some extra fuel via an additional injector on a pressure-sensitive switch, then bolted the rest on and hoped for the best! It obviously worked, within reason
