Mk3 rear pillar speakers

Post by jimknc_volvo340 » 29 Apr 2012 04:43 pm

Hi,
Does anyone know what size speakers a 3 door mk3 will take in the rear pillars? My car has never had any speakers fitted and still has the original panels in it. Need to know dept and intended speaker size please - dont really want to cut the parcel shelf and would like a flush fit in the pillar. What has everyone else fitted? Pics would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jamie

You can get original volvo ones but not many crop up for sale. Photos in this thread: http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... rs#p162038

IIRC they are 4"x6" dunno the depth.

There are speaker openings in the front footwells too and they are 4x6's

The original Volvo rear speakers are 4" rounds in the rear pillars, you could probably fit 4x6's though

Indeed, the 4" rounds bolt to the plastic housing of the rear speaker and the rear speaker housing bolts into the C pillar from memory, a normal 4" round won't go in without some form of frame.
