Hi there good people

I drove 360GLT's for about 5 years ('94 - '99). First a rotten 3 dr, then a better 5 dr - both in silver. The police and car theives left you alone. I'd regulalrly cruise at 120mph at night on an empty motorway and they never dropped a beat. i rember the steering system was weak, that they liked a drink or two, that they hated cross-winds, and were almost criminally uncool (in a paradoxically very cool way).

I rember stopping outside Harrods in Knightsbridge after a high speed 800 mile round trip in the middle of a cold spell, the car encrusted with ice and salt, great deltas of silvered screenwash sweeping back over the length of the car. A peice of art. All the children pointed and stared open mouthed at its brutal frozen beauty.

Enough poetry. After my last one died from rotten turrets I bought a 3.5 tonne Renault Dodge van, filled it with my possessions and fled northwards, away from London, and lived in the Highlands for a time. more recently I have been having an affair with VW's - specifically sciroccos. The cheapness to quickness ratio attracted me once again, and I love the way the wheel uncoils in your hand on the apex as if the car knows where it wants ro go.

Why am I telling you all this? When will he stop? Is he going to give us a history of toothbrushes he knew and loved next? Okay, okay, I'll get on with it. Recently I have become sick to the very pit of my stomach of the attention car theives and vandals pay to my VW's. I also have a baby on the way and need something comfortable, safe and spacious. So - I put a little test to my self. Find me a solid, safe, cheap, powerful, rear wheel drive hatchback...

I compiled a list that fulfilled all these criteria:

1. Volvo 360 GLT
2. errr... that's it

Hence I'm here talking to you folks.

Can anyone hook me up with a nice motor?

Welcome, once you've had a 360, there's nothing else to beat them! Where abouts are you now mate, still up North? I have a spare 360 GLT, I'm in Bucks. There are some nice ones about still, there's a grey saloon (althought you say hatch is what you'd like) around for £550 with leather! Also a 3 door on the trader site, a Mk2, very nice......... Best of luck with everything, baby and car......

keep your eyes peeled on here - there are a few knocking around that come up and they're normally posted on the forums.. theres a really nice mk2 (c reg) with 40,000 miles on autotrader at the moment.
