solution to fuel problem

Post by special » 14 Sep 2005 10:49 pm

i know i havent posted for a while but i thought you all should be aware of this :D
this message is being posted around the net right now !!!! and its a great idea
This is NO A JOKE

So please read , and pass on the information.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"See what you think and pass it on if you agree with it. We are hitting 95p a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying £1 a ltr. Somebody offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy petrol on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teachthem that BUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)...and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the
message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it.....THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL
THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE. It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso.
POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!!"

Your help is needed , so pass this information on to others

Thanks
dare to be different

This has been floating around for years, its pointless. Only way to make a difference is to buy less overall. Doesn't matter who you get it from, the oil suppliers still get the money in the end. No one makes money out of petrol pumps in general.

Yeah, it i an amazing idea, but don't bp supply several supermarkets etc and (figures from the top of my head here, so don't quote me) if the tax on UK fuel is around 60p per litre, until tax is lowered it's never going to get to 69p, the budget each year makes sure of that.

What I'm interested to see is if the goverment do this new idea of paying for all car taxes per mile, and in time periods. i.e. cheap in the evenings and not dependant on engine size. In which case I'll cycle during the day, and have a Dodge GTO* in the evening. If we all do similar, then the goverment will do some thinking...

*Or big engined 300... obviously ;)

The fuel price has had me working my arse off. I have sold over a months stock in the past 4 days! I have no gas injection kits left in stock!
The demand has been amazing and I have never known it so busy for so long. It is not just a uk problem but global.

I do still have a few traditional kits in stock but I'm sure things will calm down soon.

I can see no way forward other than seeking means of transport that do not use petrol or diesel.

As has been pointed out, the tax in the uk will prevent the cost of oil going low enough to be a real benefit to anyone.

currently unleaded petrol is taxed at over 290% (65.8% of the price per litre is tax)

Gordon Brown has been saying recently that instead of reducing tax, he wants to reduce the price from the suppliers. This is a noble thought, but doen't, and wont, work in practice as it's not the suppliers fault.
The problem is high fuel price, this is the effect of high supply costs due to high demand, and it is compounded by extreme taxation.

The first thing that should be done in ANY crisis situation is the effect should be minimised as quickly as possible. THEN the cause should be attacked so that normal buisness can e resumed.
If, for example,if there was a gas leak, the gas would be stopped, THEN the leak would be fixed, then the gas supply would be restored. it's exactly the same principle.

The tax should be cut to bring petrol back down to a reasoable level (75p) THEN the mexican gulf refineries shoul be restarted when it's safe, then the tax can go up as the supply price falls.

ofcourse, this would be assuming that the goverment cared about motorists' needs

Excellent post D3K, I agree.

What we all must realise though, at some point we will run out of petrol and we will have to use something else, petrol has been a short term solution to a long term problem for the past 100 years and we are continuing to ruin our planet because of the greed of modern society.

i work in a petrol station so i know a little about this.

firstly people will bitch about paying 95p a litre for petrol but will happily blow a quid a pop on bottled water (free out of many taps) and up to £3 on a sandwich (for this you could make about 100 sandwiches with stuff bought from a supermarket). over a year this adds up to quite a bit......... but petrol (cheaper than water) is proposterously(?) expensive..........

proper petrol from 'proper' stations doesn't have any ethanol in it so you get better mileage so cause less pollution.

most people don't even look at prices and just stuff 20 quid in or wait till there 50 litre engined SUV's tank is full.

whilst petrol is a rip, mostly everything else is. the tax does pay for hospitals and schools. and wars and stuff too..........

buy at Jet, jet are a nice company. everyone hates shell and esso so don't buy there.

rant over..........
