HAHA...In the eyes of the judges, I think they reckon you already do that! (No offence, I love that car and the friendly 'notes' which accompany it! :-D)

Please dont take this as a personal dig at anyone here, it isnt ,
but, I think the whole show car scene is a joke , the whole point of a motor vehicle is to get the occupants from A to B safely , they are not works of art they are machines.I drive mine every day , I love it but I couldnt be arsed to keep it just to use now and again or to trailer it around the country for shows ( couldent afford to for a start ),
the 300 isn't a"classic " and probably will never be considered to be one. its just a solid usually reliable ,comfortable and safe motor vehicle,
However I feel the club scene is a great thing ,friendships will hopefully last much longer than our cars even with the help we all give each other to keep them on the road, so I intend on putting as many miles on mine as I can, meeting up with you guys and just general driving, before it collapses around my ears ,
mines done nearly 20,000 in the last year alone and sailed through its last mot with no work required,
All for the price of fuel , a couple of services , a new exhaust and brakes , the only real advantage to low mileage is cheaper insurance if your insurance company agree to it,
Not only that I think the personal touch most of us apply to there cars improves there appeal ( no I dont just mean my graphics ) with minimal work my car could be almost concours if I wanted to put the money and effort into it ( remove non standard graphics ,remove rust from top of rear passenger side door and a bit of welding above the headlights, respray bonnet, put original alloys back on and its almost there) .personally I have better things to do with my life than wrap my car in cotton wool and polish my battery terminals just to please some judges who have usually already made there decisions based more on old friendships than the best car.
enjoy your 300's while you can , for the majority they probably werent your first car and they almost certainly wont be your last !!!

you forgot 'straighten bonnet' ;)

the show is a bit wierd, but it is best kept volvo - perhaps the show needs to have other competitions for other cars (highest milage volvo, most rusty volvo, most impressive recondition) etc..

having a competition to see what car is the best kept, for cars which havent even reached 3 years old is, imo, a bit silly..

I dunno, I quite like keeping my car looking smart (it's one of the only things which differentiates a banger from a car which is cared for)....I'm just not that good at it :D

If I had a rare enough car, it'd live a pampered life...but then it's being treated more as a museum piece than a car. The 360 is somewhere in the middle of the two extremes...slightly to the 'used' side.

cheers

I agree there guys after all body wise my car is not a whole way off being mint but judges at the BKV wouldnt see it like that!! They could do with a non standard class for each model and then a semi master class for winner in each class!! Because how can you compare to totally different cars and judge fairly? Thats like for example in the athletics or whatever the same judge scoring a high jumper against a swimmer!!!!

I suppose the problem is not enough cars? Only 4 300s entered this year.

Nah, Kar was supposed to be in modded, but I swapped classes after I saw Foggy in standard 300. I think one of the problems is they don't seems to know all the cars inside out, and some do still see the 300 as a joke. I got no points for tools, and yet I'll put money they looked in the boot as the carpet was moved. Out of the 4 300's, were any unmodded? You can't tell me that beige one came out of the factory with all that kit, not sure about Jim's, sure he's done something. I like the idea of individual moddied classes, and then types of mods (power vs 'style') and maybe even narrowed down to blue cars vs red.... if no one else can get in my class, I can't lose!
