A 360 is pretty good as standard and will go sideways with ease. Only real issue is if it has 13" wheels and the soft suspension.

If you get a 340 you can use the volvo 440 engines including the 1.7 turbo lump. If you use the 360 all volvo redblocks will fit pretty easily, this includes the 2.3 turbo lump which can be modified to a 2.5 turbo!!

Yeh the front panle rots at the bottom, the 4 and 5 door models rot under the rear windows. And check all the arches.
Oh if you can see the bottom of the car check around the rear engine bearer where the wishbones and tie arms meet, they will rot here.
Cheers and Gud luck Adam

Insurance group 9 (not that insurance groups ever seem to make a difference!) and they only added £47 when I swapped from my 340 to the 360 so really not that much in it, can't see it being any more than the Capri. Dai (classicswede) on here will sort you out for your suspension stuff when you get one,
cheers

Dirt cheap to insure, particularly for younger drivers. Theres people actually insuring 360s for the same price (and less!) than 340 1.4s! The GLT is group 9, but I've noticed insurance groups don't necessarily relate to the price you pay!

As Adam said, but adding front Valance, rear chassis rails (partially covered one side by the backbox, sills, inner wings. They rust in alot of places really, but generally they're not too bad!

EDIT: Search ebay theres a GLE 2.0 carb on there at the moment for 50 quid... not bad. Uber fuel economy too, but I doubt you'd care about that

I found that the 360 GLS (GLS in particular) is cheaper than any other 1.4 340 etc. Costs about the same to insure as a 1.3l fiesta.

Yeah, insurance groups don't make a difference, or if they do, a Volvo badge gives a -20 bonus, and something like GTE is +10. I can insure a Volvo T5 (some 200+ bhp) cheaper than a 1.2 Nova. Not that I ever have insured a Nova, but had to find out ;)

I still reckon the 1.4 slides easier than any other, but stick some skinny tyres on a 360 and you'll be fine.

have seen the 360 on ebay but at the mo i dont have the room
(need to scrap 1 car and sell onthere to have a free space in the garden)

so sadly will have to give it a miss

the othere trick with the tyres is put 40+psi in them  dose the job.

i see in one of the posts you can get wheels of many cars :D so that makes things cheaper.

will look at insurance in a bit

thanks for the rust advice when i start looking at them i will take a list with me
im gessing by the highmilage regester going up to 500000 miles on the clock dosen't matter if the engine has been looked after

Not so much in the 360's but the 340's have less strongh renault engines although touch wood they go pretty well and are pretty bullet proof, i rescued a pretty bad 1.7 that was full of water!!!
