Who needs lowering when you can go for the jacked up 4x4 look with the 300!?

Just thought the picture looked quite funny, especially as it towers over the 460, which is meant to be the superior replacement for the 300, which IMO it isn't!
I was actually checking a noise coming from the front suspension at the time, and checking it without any load on the front wheels, and the nosie had gone, so I'm still thinking it could be either the anti roll bars or bushes under there somewhere. There are two to three distinct clunky/creaky noises from lock to lock (I don't dry steer btw) not always occuring in the same wheel position. It had a new steering rack before I got it not too long ago, however maybe something is loose on there? Any thoughts?

I've got the same thing on mine, I had a small knock when pushing down on the bonnet but that was arb link, but yours sounds same as mine, I get some weird clunks and creaks when going lock to lock at really low speed. I'd think its rack related as i'm sure mine is knackered as it still pulls to one side after i've used lots of lock

My worn arb links made no noise atall - so might not be them atall. Though they're dead easy to change if you have to.

Ah that's interesting to hear Ali. I don't know what rack was used, probably an aftermarket one, not a genuine Volvo one sadly. I'll get a recording of it sometime, as it's getting a bit concerning. The antiroll bars on my previous GLT made a noise on bumpy roads, at low speeds you could hear it clunking and making a noise, but this hasn't been the same nosie, or on bumpy roads, yet. I wondered if you'd got the pulling to one side issue sorted on yours after a lot of lock had been applied.

hmm not sure, i've replaced all of my front suspension, shocks, springs top mount bushings etc to try to get rid of the problem and it hasn't worked, I can actually feel the clunk through the car now but that might just be the spring moving about in the cup lol

Hmmm, seems as though I'm not alone on this one. Good description with the creaking tearing noise Daffodil. That's exactly it, a sort of under strain then shifting and then starting again.

No I think the 300 was trying to "mount " the 400,
now with basic maths that would make the offspring

a 700 lol

LOL! Ah but what came first! Hmm, that makes the family tree somewhat wrong, as the 400 came after the 300 and 700! INCEST.......

LOL, love it! Had to remove the rear seats and parcel shelf recently, and I've been driving around with only the sub in the boot, no rear speakers, no shelf above it and I now realise my sub is somewhat more powerful that I ever imagined! Even turned right down it's putting out some fair bass. That doesn't quite achieve lift off though.

My creak/crunching sound on full lock also seems to be temperature rellated. I assumed it be something rubbery such as a joint or boot. Also lessens with correct tyre pressure.

300s don't happen to have a similar bump-stop arrangement at the front to 400s and 850s do they? I know that both of the latter suffer from creaking when turning the steering wheel (particularly at low speeds and near full lock) which is caused by non-lubricated bump stops. A simple matter of greasing them up cures this. Don't know if the same happens on 300s though.

Half of the donor genes come from each parent so would it not be 300 + 400 =700
700 /2 = 350 ?

In that case I think it would have a severe chromosomal abnormality, probably incompatible with life, as 200 would have to come from one side and 150 from the other, leaving 50 unpaired. That ain't a good thing
