If you've got enough power, you don't need skinny tyres :) Low power low grip certainly works, but there's a limit to the speeds you can drift at. Maybe that's a good thing?

340s are pretty damn light. A 3dr 1.4 is 900-950kg...which for a car much closer to being the size of a Sierra / Cav than an Escort / Astra is a pretty good effort...especially given the far superior structural integrity of the bodyshell (just look up the safety rating for a Sierra  ). Drift safely kids :D

cheers

I'm going Non volvo here for the sake of uniqueness and cause i'm a crazy bugger.

Choice 1- 20B Twin Turbo (200hp) With the ports Filled in and replaced with peripherals, Blueprinted and Modify the turbo's... conservative guess would be 800hp but might probably push 1000 if done properly... oh and some nos on top of that.... for good measure... ok maybe thats a little too extreme

Choice 2- LS1 + a good set of extractors... put the car on a really big diet on the front end to keep weight distribution acceptable- Battery up the back, Dry sump, remove aircon, heaterbox completely etc... it'd own all at the stoplight wars and would sound pretty pimp too.

Choice 3- 3s-ge (175hp) When i put a 3s-gte in my MR2 (with a beams head, 260hp) i'll have a spare engine in top condition... port the head, up the compression a bit and a semi-lumpy camshaft... maybe 200ish... and this one is an actual pssibility too...

What happened to the PRV, and why not a redblock? Otherwise, cool :) Rotaries must be big down under - most of you guys seem to rave about them. If you strip the AC, gimme a PM...;)

cheers

Is that 340 V12 for real? You have to be a complete frootloop to put a 600 kg engine in the front of a 340. Do the back wheels even touch the ground?
Leather, leccy windows and mirrors, snowcap, foglights, open air filter, black roof upholstery. What more do you want? >a 2.3 turbo!

nah, you can make power out of anything with enough effort. mines about x3 stock hp (volvo), the other car the same (stang).

PRV, didnt have luck finding one in good nic, and couldn't find ANY purgeot versions of the block in australia for sale (3.0 SV). Also as satisfying as it would be to do that, it has turned out easier and cheaper to get another car (the MR2 puts out as much as the PRV would have and it is such a nice car)

Rotaries, Not as big as i make them out to be, my dad and uncle used to race them... That and one of my mates has an rx7, and is building up a rx-2 rally car, his dad is helping him as he rallied in the same breed of car. Up north its a popular thing to put a bridge port 13b into the mazda MX-5, it handles AND has some balls. But fuel is also really cheap up there too.

Pros: 1.2L NA engine with 280hp from a simple porting job. 1.3L version would have outdone the 6-7L V8's except for overheating issues. Mercedes made a prototype rotary car (c111) with 2 of the 1.3L bolted end to end. Its a modular engine, you cant add another 2 cylinders to a pison engine easily, you can with rotaries, just need a crankshaft made up. They never got a peak output from the car as it shattered all their megadolar carbon fiber driveshafts... And they sound cool. No valvetrain to break or limit the engine, so they would happily rev out, dad and uncles was really well built and revved out to 20k when fueling became an issue, but it is known about a .1L rotary to rev at 100k rpm for 3 months as part of a bench test for reliability problems. it passed

Cons: They use fuel like you wouldn't believe when ported. 50L would get nathans RX7 about 150k's... He actually got better k's from it when it was being revved out.
They get very hot.
Drivetrain Problems. Mercedes made a prototype rotary car (c111) with 2 of the 1.3L bolted end to end. They never got a peak output from the car as it shattered all their megadolar carbon fiber driveshafts and twisted the chromoly ones like liquorice...
