360 Non Power Steering Downpipes

Post by 990 » 12 Jul 2006 08:45 pm

I have been informed that this product is now OP (Obsolete) and no longer available from Volvo (thank you F*** cost cutting)

The Power Steering version is still available at £63:00

Am I glad I have a GLT - if I still had my GL a hunt would now be underway

Well if you look at the positive side, it's a good reason to upgrade to a tubular manifold and a custom exhaust.

Aftermarket part was 36€ for carb version and 67€ for B200F(cat), it lasts 5 years and if installed with decent amount of exhaust paste it is not leaking, but surely lot of paste needed (at least 3mm layer to both surfaces, then wipe extra off when bolted).

I would need to get middle and rear parts soon, but trouble is that that is quite lot of money needed for those, nearly 100€ :( So I hope it will pass MOT once more :P

There is an aftermarket unit on my car - and it was 3 inches of paste and still completely useless :x

That has to be quite bad quality part

I have to leave out one support, that iron bar that holds it from middle as it was not anywhere near to correct place, I'm sure it would been leaking really bad if I had left that one in.

I had some leak in my exhaust which I located to exhaust manifold, so there is lot of paste too ;)

Now I have trouble with middle part, it has hole in silencer, it was already last year but I used bit of exhaust bandage and was ok, but I think it has failed now as it makes bit sound.

I can't understand how so simple thing as exhaust can be so troublesome, not even single car repair shop has been never able to make it to not leak, also rear exhaust hammering rear axle at speed bumps is everyday trouble :(

Jtbo, if you would live closer to Helsinki I would advice you go to place called "Tiittanen" They do only exhausts and prices are cheap. It cost me 100 euros whole 2.5" pipe beginning from the DP (old DP was left in place as it wasn't rusted and it is +3", a bit overkill with T3 but well.. :P) with Redback silencers. They do only welds so no leaking clamps.. You can take your own bends and silencers too if you don't want them to do bends or if you want a specific silencer they don't have. (Their own bends made from straight pipe are not full mandrell bends, but close so I choose those as diameter doesn't change so much that it would matter with my curren hp figures... :P)

Welding of a bolt for Lambda sond cost 10 euros so that wasn't to expensive either. It's also a quick palce because they'll do the job while you wait and no reservations are needed. Real old school type of workshop, no bs. 8)

Sounds like my local exhaust company. They are very good and helpfull.

For repro std systems I normaly use Bosal and have never had any trouble with them.
