I should now be sponsoring these guys an alternator, and if they can get the car over to me I'll take a look at if for them.

Oh well I tried,
got this email from Jim Marshall (of Marshall amplifications ) p.a.

Dear Mick

Thank you for your e-mail regarding fundraising in aid of the Downs Syndrome Association.

Over the next two years Dr Marshall has decided to commit a substantial amount of money to a couple of specialized projects which has had a significant effect on funds available, so I am afraid that he is unable to offer you his support on this occasion.

He wishes you well with your fund-raising efforts.

Yours sincerely

Ellie Ellery

Message:

Dear Mr Marshall and staff,

I have never done anything like this before but I do know how much Marshall amplification support local charities .

I am asking for your help to support a local guy ( who I only met on Saturday )and his two mates who are trying to raise money for the downs syndrome association in a rather different way ,

they are going to drive a volvo 360 they bought for less than £100.00 from Calais to Prague in the czechwrecks rally.

I met Steve after an Australian member of our car club (www.volvo300mania.com) brought his efforts to our attention.

He came around for me to look over his car and advise him on some electrical problems

Steves daughter ( there first child )was born ten months ago with downs syndrome ,He is a local guy (from Crown Hill ) and he dosent know I am emailing you so please help however you can.

please copy and paste the link below into your address bar , go to there blog and donate whatever you can either as a company or individuals.

Best regards

Mick Nelson

Oh well, well done for trying.

Wow, JM must be about 150 by now! Good to know he's still in the hotseat.

Guys, just as a small thanks to the Forum here, we've added the following to our car as a bit of advertising for you. We really do appreciate all the help and assistance, whether it be financial, mechanical or personal.

More pics will be forthcoming, but we're trying to keep her somewhat under wraps until the rally itself. We'll keep you all updated...

And secondly did it help at all? Whereabouts are you in the next couple of weeks, I might be able to come round armed with some test gear and check out the electrics for you :)

Well, this is it, D-Day has arrived and we're off to Calais this evening for our trip to Prague.

Many, many thanks to all of you who have supported us. We now definitely have a charging battery but still don't have dials and do still have an alternator light! But, as the battery was flat last week and it's now charged itself following a jump it must be OK???? Fingers crossed anyway and there are 50 other teams to get us going!

Just a quick post before we leave for the tunnel to put up a few pictures of the finished article. The first is as we bought her in the remnants of her Home2Rome 2005 livery and then in all her Czechwrecks2006 Counterfeit Mini glory.

Good stuff chaps and good luck! That's certainly not looking so sorry for itself. If it's been maintained and you've sorted the problems you had then I'm confident the car will make it, they can suffer abuse and neglect for quite some time. I like the Union Jack on the roof and the stock GLT rims look a lot better in the white! Once again, good luck, hope you've raised a lot of money.

We have just over £1400 so far and LloydsTSB where Dave and I both work will match up to £400 each so we are easily over £2000!

Not sure how long the wheels will last, it is just Halfrauds BMW Alpine White.

Oooh, that wouldn't be a dig at Redline would it! I was rather hoping to steal his bad taste crown!
