Hmm, that Dacia/Renault thing, just shows where real power is, it is in those big companies, not with government

We have to pay tax too if we import car from other European country and EU commission has send several notes, also they have sued our country to court from those violations.

Only shop I know from Germany is Lidl as we got that here too, sometimes they have stuff like that, but not very common I think. Then perhaps some big car markets would be good place to look, that would be cheaper than car accessories shop.

We have Biltema also here, but I don't know what is similar in Germany, who knows? Hmm, maybe you don't know what Biltema is, http://www.biltema.com/ sells cheap sometimes low and sometimes high quality stuff with rather good price, they have almost anything.

I would like to buy from Germany a coffee filter for cars (working with 12 volts) or a water boiler designed for 12 volts use. I am a great coffee drinker so I would like to have such a "improvement" in the car. Any suggestions about where to get such things (no matter if new or second hand)?

That is incredible. I suppose that means the classic car scene in Romania is absolutely non-existent.

Let's hope some of the benefits of EU membership get to you soon. In the short term at least, the postage costs for sending Volvo 300 bits to Romania should be lower

Mind you, you should have access to plenty of B14 engine parts with all those older Dacias around ...

Indeed, almost no classic cars in my poor country. Only between 1990 and 1993 it was allowed to import no matter wich kind of cars from Europe. Than begun the laws protecting Dacia and Daewoo (they have a factory also in Romania).

I am happy I could get one nice 340 and I am also happy I saved another Volvo, a 343, from the scrappyard (schrott) and I still keep it running.
About the spare parts, yes, it`s OK when about B14 engines. They can see in shops both Romanian made parts and French made. All having affordable prices. What I really need (some ignition details, as rotor, distributer and electronic ignition control unit) for now for my 340, unfortunatelly, they are not the same like in Dacia-Renault engines. So I will get them from Germany, maybe. But if you need some parts for your Volvo, please let me know. I`ll be happy to be usefull.

I have never been in Germany (I cross it once, with the train), but I visited Sweden and I do speak good Swedish. So I asked people from Biltema if they can send me their merchandise (I would like to buy many things from them, spare parts nd accessories as well), but they informed me, polite and cold - swedish style - that they do not send their merchandise outside the Scandinavia. So I told them "tack sa mycket" and that`s it. But in this autumn, when I hope to visit northern side of Europe, incl. Sweden, surely I`ll visit a Biltema shop. I could see they have quite good prices. Good even for a Romanian native.

it's a car accessory shop similar to Halfords in the UK with outlets all over Germany, there are 5 in Hamburg alone.

Yes, since Dacia and Daewoo ( which was bought by Chevrolet ) here is a big boom with those cars, since Romania is our neighbour.
We have to pay some taxes too, no matter if we import anything or buy it here. Anything is higher for 20 % of value of the thing you're buying, not mentioning car and parts. Importing is out of question....similar to suicide.

But i can't believe that You have to pay 6000 eus for a 300 series Volvo....that's insane.

Did You try some closer market to look for Volvo 300 cars ?

With 6000 euros you can buy cheaper 300 series and repair it to look like brand new, even if You order original parts.

And as for the classic cars....There are two types of cars. Regular cars and Yugo...so you see...Serbian evergreen

It is insane, because those politicians are insane. If a Romanian wants to buy and registrate in its country any car older than 6 years and having non-euro engine, he/she has to pay a several thousands euros taxes. In the specific case of Volvo 300. the tax costs as much as I wrote here. The Romanian politicians and the French from Renault want to push us to buy their Dacia Logan. Wich I will never do. I prefer my old 340. I think it will last much longer than a new Logan.

Why don't You buy and install gas....i do no about Romania but here we don't have to pay some taxes if we have gas installed.
I also prefer Volvo.. Dacia is a "plastic car", with no enhanced security beside airbags.

In Serbia, for every car that you import you have to pay 42% more on the price of the car that you buy. 20% custom, and on top of it 18% VAT.

Hello, V3M members,

I can announce all of you that I am the owner of the most beautifull 340 existing in whole Romania and I guess nobody in east side of Europe has one more beautifull than mine. I am not a new one here (I am member of V3M since 2005), but I use more frequently the French section. Romanian is a latin language and it is member of French speaking community of countries.

Please allow me 1-2 working days, to find our how to insert pictures here and I will do it.

I think you may easily consider your car to be one of the most beautiful, especially after a good wash.
When I posted here first time I have been in a very good mood, because my favourite team, Dinamo Bucharest, defeated the Germans from Bayer Leverkusen. In that day, my poor Volvo seemed to be world's greatest vehicle. Today, after Dinamo lost against Benfica, I'm not so sure it is so great.
