Nearly £200 for a 1.7 I'm getting tempted to go for a 1.4 to save handing a bit of cash over to them. I know someone who is only paying about £35 for a 1.1 corsa.
Ah well
Cheers Mo

Have to agree that walking would be better than one of those things.
I am considering going for a 1.4 but that will be 3 cars to tax
I need the 240 estate for shifting stuff - I don't want to sell the 1.7 as I've spent loads on it and intend to spend more.
I suppose what I realy want is a 145 so I can ditch the 240 and then pay no road tax
The problem is finding a good one that I won't have to spend ages sorting out

Just to make you feel a bit better:
A 1.7 would cost nearly £300 in car tax in Germany. Even for my B200F's (Euro 1 cat & lambda sensor) I'm paying £207.
A 340 diesel anyone? £412 a year

The yearly tax cost of my Merc 280 before the 30-year historic tax bracket kicked in?
€710 - nearly £500.
Now only €196 / £135, phew ...

tax is in the petral in france
and now its in uk with french plates i still pay no road tax just normal expensive fuel cost
and looks like my insurance is going to be £2000 pounds a year..

only real expence in france is getting the car in your name on the "carte grise" cost 130 euros i think, lasts forever
