That cabrio is just brilliant! I'd never seen or heard of that one before!
The 400 estate add on bootlid was a clever plan really, maybe it solved some of the water leaks on 400's!
Sadly with the 300 estate design, someone didn't quite get the proportions right with the windows and the rear door needed changing in shape to work. But it's still something pretty unique and odd!

A vinyl roof on a 300? Sounds great, particularly on an early Mk1 in bright yellow and lots of chrome.
Maybe Ricatron should try it

Actually, the 340 estate from the photo on the fair looks pretty nice (I know, I walked around it!). Mucho different, yes, but not bad at all.
The cabrio is simply astonishing to see! But it's actually more like a targa than a proper cabrio.

Vinyl roof... a-la Dolly Sprints... that would look awesome on a yellow! Steve/Rica, get onto it!

Vinyl roofs are totally taste-free, a bit like rear window louvres. That's why I like 'em

good vinyl roofs are good but with time they can hide all manner of rust and you wont know about it until very late in the day ,
my mate bought a granada limo ( funeral car ) to do up ,
he started pealing the tatty roof off and the metal all around the front and rear screen came off with it , from the outside all you could see was a couple of bubbles
they suit certain cars , dollies , 2500's mk2 and 3 cortinas etc .
the volvo was diferent iirc it was a 3 door with the whole rear side window covered ,
it either had a little " opera " window like this

or a metal scroll a bit like an old pram cover hinge , but dont hold me to that it was over a year ago when I gave all my brochures and books to the Farrellmeister

pistonpen paultje where was the cabrio photographed?
my understanding is that it isnt in good shape at the moment but is being rebuilt by volvo.
when was that pic taken? I wasnt aware it had had a public outing. that looks like a proper display and not a pic of it in storage
there is a 340 coupe and a cabrio. so there is another one too...
no pics of the cars at the moment (recent) due to move from holland to sweden.
that white coupe/targa looks sweet
the 480 targa was snapped during testing in the 80s so there are some pics on volvo-480-europe.org

Enjoy your 300s
I recall a friend of mine had purchased a Cortina with a Vinyl Roof, he didnt much like the idea of the roof so we ripped it off.
It was then we discovered the roof had a whopping great dent in it, and it had been filled in and smoothed off perfectly with........................................................................
Concrete.
