Hi, I am the guy who went to view the car. If you go the least they will accept is £750, and whilst that is alot for 3 series it was in excellent condition.
When I was there the heater blower and fans were not working and the head gasket was gone. If they have fixed the head gasket then I reckon its worth a punt and try n get it for £700 even though i doubt they will shift from 750.
Because they know about the head gasket now be careful they dont just wipe off the mayonaisse like gunk from the inside of the oil filler cap. Get the car running and leave it running until it is up to temperature, after about 5 mins there should be no vapour coming from the exhaust. As when i was there it was still puffing loads out after 15 mins.
Like i say tho, if the head gaskets been changed its worth a punt as it looked immaculate everywhere else, and im sure the heater fans and blower is an easy fix as it was working when we got there but then just stopped working for an unknown reason.
Good luck
Matt

I'd be weary with that car since the head gasket doesn't sound great, and it is alot...
You'd do better buying J340GLT's red 3 door 340 1.7 (offer section). It'll be similar in terms of performance to the 2.0 Carb and much more economical.

If its not far for you maybe its worth a look. but dont take the day off work or anything!
Its been knocking around a good long while now and the dealer has proven to be quite unscrupulous.
At least we know the cars offered for sale on V3M are honest. And from honest sellers eh?
But its up tou you mate.
And very good look to you.

Old friend
This car has been around unsold for getting on for a year now. This dealer seems to have had it since March at least, which tells its' own story. Really, would you pay a grand for a 360 from an unloving home? £1k would buy a stunner. Here £700 tops even with the head gasket fixed, but even then you'd better live near by as I bet you'd be back soon for a bit of warranty work. Not a car to avoid, but one to treat with a bit of caution and a lot of haggling. Certainly you'd need to know why the head gasket went on an essentially unused car - perhaps this is why it was laid up all those years ago, in which case what other malladies are there as a result of it not being repaired promptly?
Be careful with this one, especially as there are a lot of nice 340's with ultra low miles on offer at the moment for silly little money. If I hadn't just spent £100's on mine, I'd be after one of those. The 2 litre is nice, but the little un's are cheaper all 'round. And remember that the power outputs of the 2 litres come from way back in the day when manufacturers seemed to apply 1.4x conversion factors! My 80bhp 1.3 litre Honda runs rings around the 360 performance wise. Your Clio would too I suspect. These are 20+ year old cars after all - figure 80bhp in reality from the 2 litre, and 50 odd from the 1.4. On the road there isn't much in it really, especially as you spend more time at petrol stations with the bigger engine.

I blame the Volvo 66 estate I had......

That can be a very easy fix. If you buy the car, do a search on this site for "heater resistor pack" and select "Search for all terms".cheshire190e wrote:When I was there the heater blower and fans were not working

I would not worry about the 2 - 3 hour job doing the HG. You will be looking at a head set £25 and a skim £20. Not something I would worry about but make sure the price comes down if it does need doing.SteveP wrote:I'd be weary with that car since the head gasket doesn't sound great, and it is alot...
