On a 360 I'd imagine the weld holding the linkage on has gone. There are a fair few topics on this on the forum, but it hasn't been asked in a good 12months or so! As the car is stripped half the battle is done already, now you just need to bribe a friendly welding type.

I should of been more specific about it really.
If the car is switched off then i can select all 5 gears and reverse. but as soon as my engine is on i cant select gears

or if i put it into gear and then start the car it will just cut out straight away when i lift the clutch peddle.

Check the 2 10mm nuts on the clutch cable.
They have a habit of coming undone leaving ya without a clutch.
Driver's side of the car there is a fork into bellhousing.Clutch cable will pass thru fork.
Worth a check and easy/no money fix if ya lucky.

Not relevant to your clutch problem but relevant to your number plate issue..Your car has a mk3 300 bumper on the front which should be a mk2 one..If you manage to source a mk2 one (I have one if your interested!!

) Then the number plate will fit back correctly in its normal place as will the Grill..
Good luck with the car and welcome!!!
Regards
Jay

You could just change the grill for a later one and then just replace the rear bumper for the later one..the bumper just differ in size..will try to find a pic with a mk2 in it
mk2 300 was from a Yreg (1983) to a B Reg (1985) and a mk3 300 is C reg (1985/6) onwards..

Hi lead_foot
I think what people are saying is that you have a Mk 2 car with a grille that's had the Volvo logo and diagonal stripe removed. It's also had a Mk 3 front bumper fitted for some reason.
The pic Volvosneverdie has posted is of a Mk2 with the correct grille and bumper.
I hope you enjoy your 340 - they're great cars.
