Ebay - question for non uk members
Just a quick one. When looking for volvo parts do you mainly search your home ebay or do you do a world wide search?
Any input would be helpfull.

I check ebay uk and very very rarely, I don't think there is finnish version and .com is full of american crap, .de is on language I'm not capable of understanding.classicswede wrote:Just a quick one. When looking for volvo parts do you mainly search your home ebay or do you do a world wide search?

Re: Ebay - question for non uk members
I search worldwide /available to Finland, that weeds out the items that are only sold locally / pickup only / etc. German isn't a problem for me, and the wife can help me with French. For example I bought some 340 Green Books (in German) recently.
It seems that for most sellers and shops, postage from Germany is much less than postage from UK

Re: Ebay - question for non uk members
I'm not sure that I agree. Postage from the UK to Europe is not significantly higher, unless it's really heavy stuff weighing over 20kgs. But for some reason, many Ebay UK sellers are reluctant to send abroad. I think I know why that is, something to do with the UKs geographical locationnomead wrote:It seems that for most sellers and shops, postage from Germany is much less than postage from UK

Dai - people in Europe who are interested in the Volvo 300 usually search Ebay UK as well. The countries where the 300 is the most popular (scandinavian countries, the Netherlands) don't have very much stuff on their own country-specific Ebay sites, so they're "forced" to look overseas as well.

I've had a look through those sites and there is very listed at all. I think ebay uk is popular because most ppl understand english and at least then you have a good idea of what you are buying.trabitom99 wrote: The countries where the 300 is the most popular (scandinavian countries, the Netherlands) don't have very much stuff on their own country-specific Ebay sites, so they're "forced" to look overseas as well.

I think perhaps a lot of uk sellers are unwilling to post to europe because of concerns that items will go missing over seas.
Thank you for your answers

Re: Ebay - question for non uk members
Hi everyone.
I usually just search ebay uk. The postage to N.Ireland is usually more expencive than the rest of the uk. This pisses me of big style. The royal mail opperates all over the country. It should be the same price to post a parcel between two London streets as
between London and the Shetlands. After all we all live in the same country.
Cheers Mark.

The PO charges the same for NI as they do for the rest of the UK. Its only with heavy items where other compaies are used that there are higher charges for example city link charge an extra £12.50 per consignment going to NI !

Privatisation=customer rape though dude.
And getting anything actually delivered, even if it is two streets away, is far from garunteed.
I hate post.
Re: Ebay - question for non uk members
I always tick the 'EU' box at the search options. Works fine by me. The only problem is the ginormous amount of wear 'n' tear stuff eBay produces after a search, like window deflectors, faux-xenon, brake pads or other tat I don't need.

Listed with the same photo, in time order. All with the same bin price. From the same seller.classicswede wrote:The most anyoying thing for me is all the bulbs and wiper blades listed 10 times over
