Hello from a new member

Post by Pie » 29 Mar 2009 04:24 pm

Hello,

I'm Pie, thought id put an introduction here (if its in the wrong place then sorry, I couldn't find an 'Introduction' sub-forum).

As said, I'm Pie, I'm 22 and from the hilly area of Worcestershire.
Currently own this lil beasty;

Image

Its a 1988 MG Metro Turbo, that is having a restoration and a K-Series put under the bonnet with ITBs and coilovers on a custom subframe, so a lengthy project.

Hopefully to become the owner of a nice ovlov 340GL shortly.
Plans are just to get it on the road, then slam it and put the ultralites from the metro on it (after a refurb).
Then just see where things lead.

If anyone wants more pics of the 'tro, just holler.

Pie

Hi pie :)

Thats a good-looking metro?

May I ask what happened to the original engine? Don't tell me it ended up in a Mini? That really is my pet hate......... Someone oughta get a mint ERA mini and put the engine in a metro - that'll upset a few people!!!

Anyway, ignore me, I'm just bitter and twisted.....

What's the K-series lump? Make sure its had the Freelander head gasket kit fitted whatever you do to it! They're cracking engines and love to rev, but they don't like to get too hot!

Anyway, welcome!

Tom.

Hey all, thanks for the welcome.

Tom - the engine that was in there, 1310 Turbo, was sold on because it was smoking like hell after a trip to the nurburgring. After the bloke rebuilt it I was informed that the pistons had melted

K-series will either be a 1.6 or 1.8. It will have the freelander headgasket, and possibly a paddle clutch too, as they are the same as the Pug205 clutch plates.
As for it getting too hot, itll probably end up with a custom/bigger rad and a few extra fans to keep it cool.
