Happy holidays

Post by jtbo » 08 Apr 2009 06:13 pm

So, have you got some holiday because of Easter? Here we have 4 days off work, gigantic traffic problems and shops crowded like it would be end of the world.

I have to drive 400km in traffic where idiots think they need to be first and making silly overtaking attempts causing accidents or almost accidents, so I'm not too happy about this Easter thing, but it is nice to have few extra days off work :D

Any Easter bunnies sighted?

This is for that guy from place nobody likes to visit and where people probably normally wear costumes like this

Aye 4 days of work, Christianity is good for something after all. I wanted to sort out a new unit today but I guess most places will be shut.

Got to roll to hartburn to deliver our lass to her mams. Which is a couple of hundred miles of bank holiday traffic to stand still and overheat the car in.

Boooooooo.

We'll see if we can sort the overheating carry-on, at least it isn't that hot outside, and your fan works.

Fan shroud is important as is liquid flow trough radiator, it is also good if thermostat opens :D

If head gasket and rest of cooling is ok, then it should not have any heating trouble at idle, imo.

No fan shroud on a 340 Jani. It's not properly overheating iirc, just running a bit hot.

Why there is no fan shroud? Has all 340's equipped with that e-fan?

I always have wondered why there is that old style mechanical fan in 360 as electric fans were already popular on it's time.

Yeah that's it, all electric fans. I wanted to convert my 360 to electric but I rather like the whooshing noise of the viscous fan.

Thermostat is a good one. Also make sure the gauge isn't faulty. Start the car from cold and let it warm up then keep feeling the top hose of the rad until the thermostat opens, assuming the thermostat is opening at the correct temperature its a quick way to check the gauge accuracy without having to get thermometers and all that carry on.

If it is overheating most likely culprit is a blocked radiator. If its not too knackered then a good flush through normally solves it, but if its rusted through then shifting the sludge may well find new leaks ;)

Oh, and happy holidays everyone. Wanted to work on my red car today to finally start resurrecting it from its rusty grave but its been steadily drizzling all day since mid-morning :(
