Yeah it could be your veg oil coagulating, mine's still on pure dino-diesel atm. I'll change the plugs soon. Think it needs a thermostat too, it takes forever to warm up.

I don't know if your pumps have seasonal diesel-qualities there but currently the diesel which you get from pump here is rated -26C for storage temp and something like -3xC for using.. Summer diesel would gel. When the weather got cold many cars which had summer-type diesel in tank had problems when the filters clogged etc...

Veggie diesel is even more prone to clog things up in cold enviroinment if no additives are used.

It's been snowing again, official measurement from Kaisaniemi Helsinki weather station is 60cm (23.6 inches about) and counting. :P

I had a bit of a problem with my breather setup when the temps dropped below -20C and I did a ~150km trip. My breather setup is currently just a hose which goes under the car so it froze. Not badly though, just an ice stick on to the end of the tube but still enough to pop the cam plug seal and spray "some" oil on to the engine compartment. :D No damage though but the cam plug seal.. Bit of cleaning and a new plug and the car is running again. I routed the breather hose away from the cold breeze so it shouldn't freeze anymore.

It seems that the current ethanol based washer fluids are commonly rated "only" around -25C. That would be a bit of a problem if temps would go below that as the forecasts show.. Of course the methanol based washer fluids are still legal also and available which are rated for -50C or something but breathing methanol fumes in the cabin isn't quite good for your health on long term. :P Finnish made Lasol brand seem to withstand -60C and it's ethanol based but it's also many times more expensive.

Cheers for the info Fuse, I must get some decent washer fluid asap! I heard if you have problems with gelling diesel you can add a litre of petrol

Mine DOESNT warm up.
Unless you boot it.
Ive done 150 mile shifting at 2.5k and then chugging at 55mph and the needle never moves off rock bottom.
But boot it and it pops up to 90 degrees quick enough.

This can't be right surely, my temp needle never got above the blue block at the bottom during my whole trip to sheffield and back (an hour after buying the car 8) )

TURBOdeisels mother fugger!!!

You not fancy 50+ mpgs with 150 free hp? On veg?

I for one and planning a new 300 in the summer. Something appropriatly VND style waste of money.
Highrider valver pending the new laws etc.
Or might buy Johns silver 360 2.3 T if he gets all the wires pointing the right way.

TBH chris, for all the well intentioned strife ive had with 300s (and ive served my time), the cav is at least giving me the chance to catch my breath and save a bit of money.
Hope its doing the same for john.

I'll be back. And Johns never been away.

It's still just some FWD crap, only good thing is value of scrap metal...

VND Thermostat, replace + add some cardboard so that air does not enter into engine bay from front of car, just came from small trip with my crappy FWD turbo diesel and temps finally stay about, but needed to block almost all holes at front of car.

Ah, we have -27.1C here now, so you probably would like to make some holes to cardboard so it does not overheat.

For all the times I was rocking a 300, stuck in snow, shaking my fist at the sky, as you laughed down at me from your cruise controlled air con jeeps, I would just like to say to you........................... No you wouldnt.

Get a Isuzu TD in ANYTHING and rock a 300 as a 2nd car.
Ive done my time as a daily and its fully great most of the time, but if you need economy in a daily, youre cutting your own throat with a STANDARD 300.

Merry xmas.

Bastardly cold weathers have upped petrol and oil prices again, petrol being near 1.6€/l and oil 1.3€/l, Santa is not helping either. Doing Christmas visits to family would cost 86.4€ with 360 and that is petrol alone with granny driving, with crappy FWD 39€ so that is 47.4€ savings in just one trip, sure there is expensive tax for owning a diesel vehicle, over 500€/year, but as I drove a lot that is quite quickly earned, under 10 000km.

I really can't love that crappy FWD, but what man would not do to save a few pennies?

Also modern petrol kills 360, so need to find some non Euro stuff for it...
