FFS, Foggy your pictures are sharper on your compact than my SLR! I need to get a better short lens! Great piccies both, I really like your nighttime camping shot Andy.

What glass are you using, Chris? The Fuji is a bridge camera, so closer to an SLR than a compact, in all fairness...it just lacks processing power and quality of lenses. Most of the time, I'd happily swap it for something like a 450D and a 50mm F1.8...but it does still take a good picture. So did the tiny Nikon P&S I had before it...limited, sure, but very impressive for a compact from 2003.

cheers

Over the weekend, twas on the worst Canon lens that has ever existed, the 18-55 kit. Prime 50 would be nice ( I have a sexy pentax but no AF) or a 17-85 kit from a more modern set would be fairly tasty too

Ah yes, that would probably explain it. I've not spent much time with one of those, but the experience wasn't good...

Looks like an amazing weekend had by all and the backdrops look great too, the Museum looks like it's well worth a visit.

Excuse me for asking but as it's been mentioned by most of you, what exactly was this incident with the Vauxhall driver?

To be honest Chris I'm quite surprised at the lack of sharpness... it's normally not so obvious, but ah well it is a hell of a lot cheaper than the 17-85 (as in well under half the price)... but that's the obvious upgrade. I've just got the fixed 50 to bridge the gap, and for 80 quid delivered it's mighty impressive.

I'll get my pics up over the weekend - didn't really take that many as Andy looked like he was doing a good job. Love the rolling pics and campsite pics! :D

From the bearded old farts point of view a really good weekend was indeed had - even the boss enjoyed herself commenting how pleasant it was that there were many couples instead of (as usual) her being the only human in a sea of anoraks.

Can't match the pix of cars - already well covered so I shall concentrate on the wildlife.

Firstly a typical photostop on Saturday

Originally our intention was to go South but those we intended to visit (having been forwarned of our intentions) had "run away" so we decided to do North Wales instead. We based ourselves in Bangor and slipped over to Anglesea for a day - touring made fun by a complete lack of signposts in the "interior" (a land I suspect of two headed, webbed footed creatures - No not you Dai). The obligatory shopping and visit to "that" name,

Image

was followed by a visit to the Volvo dealer Tyn Lon ostensibly to look at the new S60 - however being correctly identified as NOT WELSH and NOT LOCAL and NOT LIKELY TO SPEND MONEY we were totally ignored! and walked out after about 10mins. We did find some super drives in the mountains though!

the pass of Llanberis

If, as intended, we make a 300 do an annual event - count us in.

Fantastic pictures Mac, especially that odd looking hairy creature at the end!

Several people have commented on how nice it was that it was a family day with 'significant others' and offspring present - a 'boys weekend' may have been a lot of fun, but we'd have probably done something stupid and ruined it for next year whereas this was it turned out very enjoyable for all.

I'd like to see some more pictures from the quarry if anyone has any, equally that Brummie creature needs to get his pics ASAP!
