What little I know from that country, it is that definition of old car differs from ours and yours.

However what is weird is that 300 does not fit at all to that place and time, during late 70's and 80's I'm pretty sure there could not been lot of Volvos there, those must be imported from somewhere, as it was all big USSR influence during those times, surely cars must have been east origin as western stuff was pretty much banned, even we had some weird legal restrictions at early 80's and our country was not as much eastern as was for example our southern neighbourgs, so it is puzzling me a bit how there could be many of Volvos unless they are imported later time.

Don't we have members in there? Maybe they could enlighten us?

Some of those photos show cars of the wrong year for model (a 1984 MK1?? I think not, maybe the year of import?) and I also spotted the exact photo used in the wikipedia write up of the 300. I suspect that not all of those adds are current/real? certainly people may be using other peoples pictures from the internet to advertise their own car. Some of the cars in those photos may be ancient and the cars long gone :(

It it a scam aimed at us 300 deprived countries, hoping to tempt us over to meet in some darkened airport car park to be separated from our cash in return for a heavily modified Lada Riva

I'm tempted to agree tbh... there are way to many rare cars in that line up Toms posted (not looked at the main link).

A Mk1 GLS, R-Sport, Mk1 SE's..... really?

All in prestine nick?

Dubias. Love the Mk1 interior that doesn't line up with the bolt on screen though, looks like the A pillars have been shifted 2" relative to the wheels.

Having lived in the Soviet Union during the late 80s/very early 90s, and spending some of that time in Ukraine, I can confirm that there were ZERO Volvos of any kind there at the time.

I once saw a Mark 1 Escort going round a roundabout in Moscow with Soviet plates and I nearly fell over in shock. Western cars of any kind were rare as rocking horse shit.

Any 340s/360s which are there now will have found their way there after the Soviet Union broke up, I expect they were simply cars no longer wanted in western countries and made a good cheap buy for ex-Soviet citizens with little money. Also, sadly, many of the second hand western cars which appeared there after the fall of Communism will have been stolen vehicles.

I'll be in Serbia next week, and I always spot a few old Volvos when I'm there, amongst other gems like Hillman Avengers, so I'll try to get some piccies with my mobile when I spot 'em.

:360:
7.52pm: I'm jealous. I really wish that I was a) a Fulham fan; and b) at Craven Cottage. What a night for them. The players are still on the pitch, loving it.

It was not easy to get western car during those soviet years even in here, surely we got Volvos and Saabs, but Wartburgs and Ladas were very common, but even Saab had Finlandia model that had lower specs than baseline model, if my memory serves me properly :D
Early 80's and late 70's things did start to get bit better in that aspect, late 80's started to be rather western times here already and our country has not yet fully recovered from early 90's economy collapse, bit before soviet union ended and our country became first time really 'free' from influence of soviet union.

So many 80's luxury cars and such bit better vehicles are imported here too after collapse of soviet union, for example s-class mercedes was really rare sight during 80's, but today you can spot those 80's s-class cars almost daily.

However cars we had at early 80's, only few have survived this far, some are lost totally and only later imports can be found, probably in Ukraine there is similar loss of car culture happening/happened where those once common cars are forgotten and disappared from country.

The R-Sport in the pic certainly doesn't look like it was taken in the Ukraine. But the others all have UA plates - I don't think anyone would go to the trouble of faking a few old 343s on a used car site.

The amount of 300s for sale there really is huge though, maybe some of the ads date from years back and never get deleted?

The only way to sort this out is the identification plate under the bonnet:
http://andorable.nl/index.php?option=co ... &Itemid=63

It's a pity the pictures don't show the engine/under the bonnet. If they did, we could see the country code (code 18 = CEE-countries) and conclude if all these cars are original Ukrainian or aren't.

Hi I`am from Ukraine, from Kiev.
I can answer your qestions if you need
volvo 300 never had been sold in ukraine, all of this cars are imported as used after 1991 year from eastern europe
some of what you`ve seen, is not a tuning it`s an attempt of repairing the car, whith parts from soviet cars.

here is our club http://www.vovlo.com.ua

I saw two 360s whilst in Belgrade (Serbis) last week, one a pristine looking 360 GLT in a kind of dark red/purplish colour. The other, a tatty looking gold mark 2 saloon, 360 GLS. I was driving at the time I saw both and was unable to get any pictures, which was a shame.

The GLT really surprised me as older cars are uaully sheds over there, but this one seemed well looked after. Very nice.

I could do with a car to keep at my flat over there, so next time I'm over I might make someone an offer for a 340 or 360 if I spot a nice one!
