Well the insurers have to cover risk, and the risk of a flying banana is 5.369 times greater. Even with astronomical petrol prices a few pence isn't that much over a year compared to some outgoings.

Looking at the numbers:

133.06p UL / 139.47p DERV average for the Toon.

250 miles a week in a 25mpg petrol car: 2361 Litres @ 133.06p = £ 3141.28
250 miles a week in a 30mpg petrol car: 1967 Litres @ 133.06p = £ 2617.20 (£ 524.08 less than the 25mpg car)
250 miles a week in a 45mpg diesel car: 1312 Litres @ 139.47p = £ 1829.85 (£ 787.35 less than a 30mpg petrol car)
250 miles a week in a 55mpg diesel car: 1073 Litres @ 139.47p = £ 1496.51 (£ 333.34 less than a 45 mpg petrol car)

Filling up at the wrong place could add up to 7 or 8 ppl on either fuel, so that could be up to another £ 75 to £189 a year. The difference between top and bottom of the examples is £1645, which is probably less than some young person's insurance quotes.

Problem is I can't see anywhere under Footman James classic policies (online anyway) that don't state the car has to be garaged overnight

I had the 360 insured on a classic policy through Lancaster for two years and that was kept outside, 0 NCB (as was using them elsewhere) £213 p/a.

This thread gives me hope of finding a modified classic policy for an affordable price. :D

Steve, don't bother online. There's a thing called POTS (Plain Old Telephone System) .

The online stuff is for a quick quote that makes far too many assumptions. Speak to a human for a policy tailored to your requirements.

They also do multi-car (if you call them up)

Best advice in the world. You never get either best price nor policy online, they are there soley for bread and butter cars and people.

I don't think we count...

It's true but I find I'm often doing quotes for stuff that I might not even really buy - so sometimes seems pointless ringing up for quotes but interesting nonetheless :)

Dragged up from the depths of the front page.

Just did my renewal today. Fully comp, all mods declared i.e everything, engine swap, engine chip, exhaust, alloys, lowered suspension, uprated sounds.
Parked on driveway Fully comp with 3points speeding fine £556.04

Thats with Equity Redstar, but through Adrian Flux again so may be worth ringing them direct?

RING Footman James.

Even if it says they dont online, they might offer you summat over the phone.

Same with other brokers. Ring em up FTW. Takes more time but you get the best deal. And mention V3M, you sometimes get a discount.

I used to recommend Adrian Flux. But lately they've been real shits to everyone.

Flux have always been shit dude. I have lost count of the number of people I know or have heard of having problem after problem with them! It's usually due to them not paying out when need be,
A mate of mine told them about his engine conversion, and instead of them increasing the installments they cancelled his policy! Result, pulled over and 6 points for no insurance!

I have had quotes from them for a heavily modified car and they have been laughable, so I would never even think of contacting them again tbh!
