Normally some snow is good fun........ today I needed to take the van out with some items and couldn't even get out of the yard! Got stuck twice and gave up, RWD with absolutely no weight over the rear wheels meant it was a disaster, just spinning up one wheel all the time!
Then I had to battle with all the clowns on the road and get my GLT to it's MOT! Which thankfully it passed! Just had to make sure I didn't stop on any snow unless I was facing downhill! The MOT station had an interesting time even getting it in the building, then had the joy of it dripping on them when it was on the lift!

No snow here. What little there was has all gone. My boss thinks that the power stations in the Trent Valley create a microclimate, but I'm not sure that I believe him.
Congratulations on a successful MOT, Mr F!

Does anyone bother with snow tyres in the UK? Over here they changed legislation recently stating that if you're cought in wintery conditions with "summer" tyres on you get fined, and if you have an accident, your insurance doesn't pay.
Totally daft blanket rules, they apply equally whether you live in the Alps or in the warmish cites which barely see a sprinkling of snow once a year ... The tyre industry is pleased though, stating that "a winter tyre is better than a summer one below °7C". Nonsense in my opinion.

Cheers Gavin, more on that MOT later in another thread if I find time!
This snow stuff, they think there might be more on it's way! And if it freezes again tonight before it's all gone it could get interesting. I love watching people panic about a little bit of snow! Other countries cope with far worse conditions that this. Anything slightly out of the ordinary and the country stops. I'm not very old, but our schools NEVER shut due to any weather conditions, they'd probably come and find you and drag you in! Not shut the schools down for the day!

Seriously though, having just driven through the new forest the conditions are fine. No ice, no snow, just slippy slidy damp roads. And having finally taken the B200 block out of my boot this arvo I could finally enjoy driving the 360 again

You Lucky...... Theres no snow here in The South Of France
but that thing about winter tyres is the same here as they sell only summer and winter tyres sepretly UNLIKE ENGLAND WHICH HAS ALL SEASON TYRES!!
so in france you must have a set of each which may be a good reason for getting a set 15 " alloys For summer
YOU LUCKY ENGLISH PEOPLE!!
