I don't think that it is worth the trouble to remove those pipes. There is no gain in performance, well a tiny bit because of weight saving, but then again leaving wiper fluid to half way does more.volvo_850_GLT wrote:Hey here i am again, looking for some parts to improve my 360. (demand forum)
Well im going to do some changes to improve the durability of my car. Going to change all the rubber tubes in the engine bay, spark plugs, cables, clean the refrigeration system, etc.
Seeing the answer of ronnie on another topic i have to ask you all something. Seeing the photo on the right of the square there are some tubes tha came from the exhaust in to the air filter system, do i gain something by blocking them? Beeing like that what do they do? and blocked?
Sorry for my English
Thank you all
Hugo
Bit similar tubes as them in my V8, but I don't know how those should really work in 360 as those really should not do anything by judging from that pic, there is no vacuum or pressure in air intake tube, there should not be pressure from those tubes that actually are connected to cylinder head, there is small hole in exhaust port for them, also those cylinder shaped objects are one way valves that prevent hot exhaust gas to flow freely to rubber pipe and to plastic air intake pipe. In my V8 there is air pump that blows air into those pipes, but there is no such in 360 at least not in that pic.
So it should be same result if those are or are not present in car, maybe tiny bit less exhaust carbon to intake side, but it is really subtle effect.
If you seek more performance, replacing cam shaft is easy and something one can actually feel, air filters and emission system removal is not worth it, imo.
Reliability is improved best by opening all electric connectors and cleaning them, also ground points should be all opened, cleaned and protected with battery grease or something like that. Fuse box is common failure point and also relays inside dashboard, take instrument cluster off and you gain good access to them. If those are ok, then cleaning injectors is not bad choice. I would worry mostly electrics in reliability wise, rest is so fail proof technology that there is hardly anything that can fail.
