Tom that 55 coupe is exactly the sort of thing I'd want. They're definitely at their best in mental 70s colours.
For what VND and I are on about, this is what's for sale on the VOC:

'87 Nissan Sunny
'95 945 LPT
'90 340 3dr
'87 360 GLT
'87 765 TIC
'75 Manta A
'70 Rover P5 V8
'67 MGB GT
'62 amazon 2dr

Me too.
Its all killer, no filler.
It would be a close race against a good daf coupe mind.
And I wouldnt want to have to put them sise by side and choose one.

Talking about close races against DAF coupes, ask Foggy for his comments on a 170bhp S70 manual with 4 adults in it versus a old 60bhp 66 coupe vario with 2 adults in it on a twisty road.............

The only DAF I thought was good looking was the 55 coupé marathon, my uncle and grand father had one [not the 55 i think a 33 or some thing like that] and every time the car would pul-up it would shake like jello, because of the 2 cylinder boxer engine.
It's to bad the DAF's were to expensive here in Holland, that of the higher taxes here.
Back in the seventies you could buy a DAF in Italy have a week vacation at the same time and still have saved 3000 guilders on the price, that's how high the taxes were, and still are here

Torque: How far the car pushes the wall.

That's the one, Rupert! How rare are them spoilers? I'd buy a 66 just for that

1989 - Volvo 360 GLT
1985 - Volvo 360 GLS
2008 - Volvo S60 SE Lux

DAFs have got to be cool now.
After so many years of being misunderstood or ignored, most have disappeared.
But, there is a nice 55 saloon on UK Ebay at the mo which must be saved. Unmolested/unrestored and nice.

Practical Classics say that there are probably just 11 of these left now (certainly registered) in the UK.
To answer an earlier question, the 66 Vario and belts is the same as the 340. The only difference was the "Volvoifycation" of the selector lever to make it "normal". DAFs are better though - lever forward to go forward and back to go back.
Mega.

Awesome news, that means you could probably get away with running 100+hp through a 66. With one of those massive front bumpers. Sexy.
