Ah - cheers for that mate - it had a new exhaust fitted last year sumtime but its not a genuine volvo one and already perishing! I'm not going to fork out any more for a replacement until it actually fails an MOT and if the volvo one is abit pricier then I may just get a mate to knock u a s/s one for me. Early days.

Not seen many saloon rear pics so will investigate further, cheers, may even have the exhaust receipt sumwhere.

Blocks yes - 'uprated' springs - hmm, if sum come up 2nd hand then I mite, but I cant justify spending too much on this car atm. Cut for the time being I think.

Fair enough man. But for the cost, its probably the best upgrade you could do.
Hands down.

Chop for the look.
Uprate for the er, handling.

V.true mate - only reason i'm reluctant to shell out is because it gets taken to work and at sum point drifted. Not really sporting down country lanes - but as u say, uprated springs are guna help for the sidewaysness also...

Yeah, if youre doing hours in it, you should really get it done.
The difference really is worth the money.

Makes no nevermind if youre only gunning it at the weekends like. But for drifting it certainly firms and ballances the front up well.
2" for me though.
I havnt got the balls for sump-scuffin.

Found the fuse box for the front fogs hiding behind the battery in the enginebay. Replaced the fuse (8amp) and it worked fine for about 5mins then blew. Did the same, and the same story, blew after 5mins. I did notice the fuse metal weakened when I turned the front fogs on then it was only a matter of time before it gave up. May try a 10amp but I'm unsure why its doing it. Admittedly did fit new bulbs - Wattage too much for the wiring/fuse u think??

All opinions welcomed.

Also I have a enw noise coming from around the drivers sill. I canonly describe it like a glf ball inside my sill. Its a dul short thud under braking, acceleration and cornering left and right aswell as hitting a bump with the drivers side of the car. It only started yesterday and I cant place its exact location!!

New/spare diff photo's will be uploaded shortly and will be welded on Thurs/fri I think - Fitting wont be for awhile but atleast its done and ready.

Torque tube or front suspension would be my guess for the noise. I have more of an idea what you mean when you write it down lol.

The top mounts like to fall to bits on these fine machines, or maybe you have a snapped spring/very crusty shocker. Take a butchers.

I was thinking suspension/drivetrain related but it really sounds very one sided. and alot more central like the B-pillar. Infact when turning it makes that dull thud. But under braking and accel there is a delay to it. As if its rolling to the bk/front of the car.

Think sum shiney uprated springs and blocks may be in order anyway. Havent removed any of the wheels yet to inspect since I bought it and I really should have by now. Solid discs FTL. Can you buy direct replacement vented ones and decent pads for these old work horses?

Black diamond do off the shelf vented or drilled/grooved discs and uprated pads, i'm using them they aren't bad, but they aren't cheap either.

Hope you sort your knocking out but can't really suggest anything other than front suspension of some sorts, but the "rolling" down the sill noise is an odd one lol. :)

I'll try and record the noise if possible - I may even just get sumone to sit in the back and see if it sounds any different from there.

As for the black diamond discs and pads, sounds good. Still cautious about shelling out good money on a car that isnt my daily drive or 'project' if you know what I mean. I cant seem to find any vented discs online though for them, just solid. I assume other 4x100 239mm discs from VW's etc may also fit?

NIce car!

Forget all the leery mods - get a new cam belt on there pronto. 12 years is too long and one twang and your nice redblock is scrap. Will also improve throttle response and make it run smoother - that old one will be flapping in the wind.

Yeah - cambelt is high on the list. Especially after watching the 2 part vid on youTube. Looks v.easy but I'm short of a torque wrench and power bar atm. Also I've never done one so when my gf gets her car bk, I get mine bk, and I can afford to take the volvo off the road for afew days to get it done. At worst my mate can do it for me at work.

In other news - removed the diff from the spare casing I have. Rather easy on a work bench having never done it before. Will be needing rubber seals/gaskets etc though So get lemme know the best places to get them from. Pics to follow...

Check my youtube channel for a 'how to' vid on cambelt change. Cheap as chips to do and well worth the hassle. With your trade card should be able to get torque wrenches from Halfrods assuming they still do them. A lot of special tools were quietly discontinued.

Anyway, the fogs fuse. What wattage of bulbs have you put in? If you've put 100W jobs then you'll melt the wiring eventually. They were only designed for 55W bulbs and I reckon the fuse takes account of that cos 8A is a fairly low rating. But then again, the fogs are only made of plastic mainly. The fuse blowing all the time is a sign you're overloading something somewhere.
