I certainly didn't catch the bug from my parents who never particularly liked either the 300 or the larger models. I grew up with FWD VWs.

But my girlfriend was driving one in 1993 which she'd been given a year or two earlier by her grandfather who'd given up driving, so I guess there's an OAP element in my V300 history too ;-) Loved the car from the outset and drove loads of miles all over Europe in it. But it was running on a student budget, saw next to no maintenance (why put money in a car when you can save for your next trip?) and we scrapped it in '99 with a leaky head gasket, play in the steering and rotten sills and doors. I was pretty upset seeing it go, but it was my own fault I guess.

Bought our current daily 360 in 2000. I think I well and truly cought the bug after getting some fog lamps for it on Ebay, spotting V3M shortly after, wanting all the UK accessories Germany never got...

...and now things have really begun to get silly.
