Re: Photos
Pretty much straight from camera, just added very small amount to star magic as it did glow already quite well so I thought to try if it fits and even effect is rather subtle it did enhance it a bit, but rest is straight from camera, even brightness of Venus and all that.

Very nice pics Jani, really impressed with the night sky ones - must get somewhere darkish and have a go myself!
Was greeted by this when I was out in the garden the other day...excuse the dirty lens, gonna have a go at cleaning it tomorrow!

My cat was less amused...

Thx from comments
SteveP, frog photo looks very professional
One of my lenses is bit dirty too, mostly because of icing, but I have been quite cautious not to touch it, what kind of equipment are you using to clean it?

Love that landscape Jani

And use the pads with solution (I'm guessing it's just IPA, but it's not silly priced anyway) on my lenses too.

Re: Photos
There was bit better weather today, so I went to practise more of drive by shots, most are crap FWD cars on roads so taking photos is not that fun, also at Saturdays only 1 of 10 is big truck...

1280x800 size http://jtbo.pp.fi/images/road_pics/seat_ws.jpg
I did saw Hummer H2 right after I put camera away, very rare sight in Finland and probably it will take 10 years to see one in here again
With trucks problem is that they are tad too large to small angle I have on that location, I need to find better location to take these photos.

Re: Photos
Everyone is probably taking photos for competition, I should be too, but have had too much other stuff. I managed to find one photo from folders and decided to give it a go in Photoshop (In Gimp actually).

I did straighten it, made colours tad stronger and increased moon brightness (didn't add moon it was there already), also removed some noise in Neat image. I don't usually prefer photoshopping, it should be possible to take photos well enough that there would not be need for photoshopping, but this one for example is taken from side window from car with one hand and without looking from viewfinder while travelling over 80kph, so of course it couldn't be perfect straight from camera

Re: Photos
Jani... I tried some astro stuff last night, I need to read up those links you posted again!!! I saw things through telescope that means I know these are what I say, but can't see it in the photo! I note you are taking constalations, I think I'm being too ambitious for a 300mm lens!
Saturn, the bright thing that has a hint of a ring (it had proper rings in the telescope, was awesome to see, I've never really played with a telescope before)

Also got one of comet Lumin, but thats even less spectacular! It's the brightest dot in this one

So, something I can take pictures of to make up for poor astro... a car! Rallye Sunseeker last weekend

Re: Photos
Chris, nice shots there
You really can't do much with 300mm in astrophotography, M45 and M42 are probably best to start with as you can still get rather nice photos and those are enough bright to take photos without tracking mount.
I have EQ1 mount with motor drive, bit under 100 euros and that mount is at limit with 300mm objective and camera alone, but it is huge improvement over still mount.
Saturn is still going to be tiny messy dot if I would try to take photos from it, it just needs big telescope to take photos from ring
You have some good astrography shops in uk, also there was few in Germany, there should be mount available for getting DSLR mate with telescope eyepiece hole, uhm, that did not come out right I guess, but you know what I mean.
We have only cloudy days, haven't seen starts for many many days at home.
I try to see what shops I know of (have them stored but now at work so can't check until evening), telescope service de was perhaps one in germany, but there were few nice ones in UK too, so getting camera to telescope should not be too expensive. I'm just not sure if it is possible to take photos trough telescope without tracking, maybe from moon. Problem is that more focal length means shorter max exposure time as stars become stripes.
