Fail!

So, try more nuts I suppose.
Glad I only bought one.
Theyre 3.50 a pop inc p&p.

This is turning out to be more hassle than an engine swap. :(

Me too!
Unfortunatly, Ive realised that the wheels are built for 'stepped' bolts and nuts. I.E. theres a great big step/lip halfway down the bolthole.
Everyone still with me?
Sooooooo, sleeved nuts that ARE in fact the correct diameter, dont get past the step.

Solution?
Drill the holes out.
Cant think of anything else.

So lets see how that goes.

Watch this space for lots of swearing/crying.

Sounds like your having a proper arse ache getting those on!

So i take it they are from an MX5, do they have studs on the hubs ala Volvo or bolts?

Dunno man. If i never hear the words 'bolt' 'stepped' and 'nut' together in the same sentence, i'll be a very happy man.

I was told that they use stepped bolts, with a domed securing nut, but by then i'd already lost the will to pay attention.
Theyre getting drilled out anyway.
And im going to run them with flat seated sleeved bolts with about 1billimeter of thread connection.

Its going to be very dangerous, and i might actually die, but im going to look very cool. If only fir a very short amount of time.

Seriously though.
I am.
Should be ok though.

Yeh drill the holes out mate. If that backing plate behind the spokes is alluminium, the bit that sits against the hub it wont be a problem.

Didnt want to dude.
Had a family emergency and needed to raise as much money as possible in a hurry.

Always fancied wires on the 340, but knock-on cenverion was too costly and hard.
Then these came up cheap so wee irresistable.

Same old story.

My world has gone to sh!te.

Wheels are drilled.
+1

Theres no clearence (after being assured my my engineering old man 6 time that 'yes i garuntee there will be' ) to get a socket on the nut heads. Theyre just too tight to the spokes.
They were the only choice at the correct diameter, thread and length and so i am left with one option.
Sell them.
-1,000,000,000.

50 quid on sleeve nuts p!shed up against the wall.
Tried to grind a socket down, but theres really just no room.

Theyre going on ebay.
I am angry.

Also, my leather seats are 5 door style, no tilt. Much to my further anger.
No back seat access=mot fail.
So if i cant fab a tipping sub frame, these two will be taking the walk.

sm2 does not do propper justice to my current emotions.

Talk to Adam - he's done this conversion and seems to think it was quite straight forward - mind you, straight forward for Adam might be a little different for us mere mortals.

Bad luck about your wheels... Could you fit longer studs? I dunno if they're removable from the hub or not

Cheers dude.
Had thought of changing the hub studs, but every thread mentioning hub removal has normall turned into a sledgehammer, days work, ending up changing a whole rear axle style nightmare.

Hands up.
Im beaten.

Move on.

I'll pm Resident V3M Genius for sit tip advice though. Thanks for the heads up. :)

This didn't dawn on me either...

Yes, Adam's done it. I can't see it being too much more than cloth's off, and swapsie, but hmmm.

The offers still there for me to take them off your hands last resort, though they would have gone a long way! Seriously, I reckon you'll have the first 3dr set of leather in no time.
