Whenever is good for you mate, i'm in no rush as the car will run without and its not going anywhere without insurance. Any chance of you measuring in the inner diameter for me? Could come up next weekend probably? I'll catch you on MSN anyway :D

Ali, loving the project as ever.

As part of my project I'm looking to get hold of some overfenders and wheel spacers. Dai's given me a price on spacers (which I'll get when I can) and I've been looking on ebay for overfenders. Managed to find some on ebay but they're for a Mini. Trying to work out whether they'll fit. If you can point me in the right direction mate could you PM me please?

Thanks

ben

Right well after having to put the car on hold for uni work i've cracked on a bit...

Big thanks to Lee (bennett) for sorting me out with the exhaust pipework, also got a good look at his bonnet up close and its really impressive, anyway started knocking up an exhaust system, few pics of the build up.... undecided on which backbox to use....

Got the place that made my cage to sort me out with a connector, only thing he had with an internal diameter of 3" was really thick walled so he lathed the end down for me so that i could slot it and crush it down

Then briefly this afternoon started on the sump, you can see the oil return coming down and where it'll be welded in the side of the sump, unfortunately got stuck with two bolts right at the back of the sump just above or below the steering rack, can't remember which lol....

Probably won't update again till next weekend

Yeah, 2nd to last exhaust pic shows how its going to be basically, just need to extend it by about 6" and attach it to the backbox, should be enough ground clearance I hope

:P I prefer the oval but the oval silencer is harder to fit in and hits the leaf spring mount where the pipe comes out from the system

Ali mate...you may well have a problem with that oil drain. It has to go ABOVE the level of the oil, or it is prone to backing up in the pipe (unable to spread out...it's not under any real pressure) and potentially fragging your turbo. Either grab a spare pan and re-do it, or have a source on a spare turbo, just in case.

I might be doing the old merchant of doom act here, but I'd rather flag it up and look like a fool when it's fine than not say a word and have it leave you stranded. Quality of the oil drain is a known issue.

cheers

I think that there is still no extra hole in sump, hose is just hanging there.

Just put is so high in sump that is any way possible, that is best thing to do, imo.

Some pipe that has 90 degree bend from plummer shop could be good there too, helps with installation.

Haha yeah you didn't read that lot very well James  haven't managed to get the damn sump off the car yet, I will be using about a 45degree bend coming out of the sump as high as possible, the pics were just showing the hose hanging there
