Oooh, I forgot to put up some from the 750MC racing I went to.
What not to do

Why not to do it

Noobs making use of their noob stickers

For spectating, it was amazing, the entire field were close racing the entire time

And finally, getting it right

Re: Photos
Thx, with manual focusing it is very difficult, but auto focusing and set it to constantly focusing mode, point and shoot, well almost, they don't seem to understand when I tell them to stay motionlessChris_C wrote:Thats what I do mate, hence the 200 odd shots here! I'm so glad the camera stores the settings used, you can look at the one that looks best and remember it for next time
EDIT: I forgot to mention, great focusing on the insects! Those are really hard I find, let alone as close as you've managed to get!

Yes, hundreds of photos, only few good ones. Today I have taken perhaps around 600 photos.
Re: Photos
Nice shots, especially of corfe castle. Why were you driving a landrover of all things till 2am?

Re: Photos
We were bored about 8pm... and it was a choice of pub, Volvo or landy. As the Volvo had been out the Wed night, and pub Thurs, twas an easy decision

We don't have castles, not in way you have, we have two in south, but none at hills.
We have few lakes however:

I would need haze filter as there is haze
I have problem with camera, there are darker dots in image, sometimes they are stronger, sometimes they are none, always in same spot same size same shape and happens with both lenses.
Easily spotted from sky at this larger image:

Re: Photos
I think it looks like you have a bit of dust on the CCD, some cameras have a cleaning cycle you can run to shake it off or there are methods of manually cleaning the sensor (either with a blower, which often ends up getting more dust in there, or a kit consisting of cleaning swabs).jtbo wrote: I have problem with camera, there are darker dots in image, sometimes they are stronger, sometimes they are none, always in same spot same size same shape and happens with both lenses.

Re: Photos
Yes, it seems to be so, I did try to clean with equipment that I had (some cleaning liquid and swabs but result is worse if anything.
Then again, I'm not too good when it comes to cleaning so perhaps it is better to visit camera shop tomorrow and ask if they would clean sensor for me.

Re: Photos
I bought one of these Jani
http://www.cameraclean.co.uk/acatalog/S ... _Kits.html
On the idea that worst case, I had access to a clean room
You really don't need it though, I clean mine in my room, on the same desk I do metal work on. Granted I do clean it down first
Camera shops here charge £20ish per swab used. On my Mums camera, I had to use 5 to get it clean the first time as it had got really bad. Mine I do whenever I notice a spot now, as swabs work out about 15p with the kit above!

Re: Photos
I bought kit from camera shop too, but this came with cheap plastic and cardboard packaging which really tells about quality of kit, cost still 20ish

Re: Photos
Few technically interesting shots:

Both taken towards sun at bright sunny day.

Re: Photos
So quiet in here that I have to drop few pics in
Well, it is not always needed to wait until bird stops, you can catch him from air too, but you need fast shutterspeed, it was dark cloudy day so I had to use ISO1600 to get enough fast shutter speed and motion frozen. It helps when you know where bird will go next, so point camera there and wait, when bird closes in start taking pics, easy?

This guy was tad bigger, likes from worms obviously:

That shot was bit different, to get that close you need some masking, I did use V8 for that as mine is STW and it has black film applied to windows it is perfect camouflage for my intentions. I just got into the trunk of car and took photo trough window, that also explains bad quality of photo, it caused bit of blurring, lack of colours and such, so needed small retouch to get photo to be even what it is here. On plus side, I could get very close to that bird, it was around 2 meters from me at closest, but I could not take photo at that time, because dark windows mean less light enters to camera and thus shutter speed become quite slow and I had to support camera with my hands and car floor.
Perhaps I will use that technic bit differently later time, I could open rear window a bit so camera lens goes trough and use some dark cloth to cover rest of opening, so I could get perfect shots
We had power outtage of around 10 hours that day, so I did find something else to do than sitting on my computer, meaning I did sit with laptop in car (there is inverter in car so I can charge laptop battery
).
Oh yes, there is still dust on CCD, hoping to solve tomorrow as I have had no chances to visit camera shop.
Next week I post pics from lapland

Re: Photos
As it looks as though we've finished summer now, here's a few from when I managed to take advantage of the weather. I've really not had a lot of opportunities to take photos for myself recently, so my 52-week project has suffered a little because of it.
