My cars:
1) 1986 Austin Montego (2.0 litre)
- fond memories of my first car, I passed my test in it in '97. I bought it off a neighbour for £50, he was going to scrap it. A rather tasteful (!) metallic gold colour, but it was comfy and suprisingly quick. Kept up with my mate's chavalier SRI at the time. Died of rust in 2000.
2) 1978 Pontiac Trans Am (6.6 litre)
- Bought in 2000 and yes, the insurance was a bastard for a 20 year old male. But the big block 400ci V8 and positraction (limited slip) rear wheel drive was worth every penny in fun factor!

Drift aplenty! Smokey & the Bandit shape, black with the eagle on the hood, t-top roof. Man, I loved that car, I was devastated when in august this year it threw a camshaft bearing and snapped the shaft. I don't need to tell you what shape the inside of the engine was in...
3) 1990 Austin Metro (1.3 litre)
- yes, yes, I know. But it steers like a go-kart and it was also only £50. Got it off a friend from the american car club who was about to scrap it. I got it in 2002 when a change in job meant I lost my company van so I needed a cheap daily driver to run alongside the trans am. Died of rust in 2004.
4) 1989 Volvo 360 GLE
- just when I was looking for a replacement for the mighty metro to commute in, my friend at work was about to scrap her old volvo. (hang on, I'm noticing a pattern here...). I swapped it with her for a garden shed, which she wanted and I happened to have lying around... and here we are! A week or so's work and straight through an MOT. It's not as cheap to run as the metro but I fancied something a bit more comfortable and a bit more solid, plus the rear wheel drive drift factor appeals. So while my main interest lies in american cars, the old beast has really grown on me! I did get a lot of stick from some of my mates for using sheds as a currency for buying cars with though. My first volvo but i predict it definately won't be my last...
