cheers

you cant get on there unless you have voc membership

looks good - some funny things - the saloon boot is smaller than the hatch, and they claim 'minimal bodyroll'. ROFL!

I have VOC, just rarely check ;) I thought the specs page and the what comes with what model might be useful. As are what colours were around at that time.

has anyone noticed what a crap fit saloon rear bumpers are? blatently lazy moulding there :P

specs are interesting - lots of stuff was 'unavailable' on a lot of models - but for no percievable reason - why cant you have gauges on a dl? and why no skiflap!? i never knew that!!

also turns out there were not 2 'reds' :) other than the metallic

it seems strange that red was a popular glt colour when its not metallic (and metallic was 'free')

The saloon rear bumper is the same one as the hatch - that's why its so bad! They decided it was worth making a different rear valance for the bodykit though (?!)

Sorry if I sounded down on it Chris - it's all good, and there's some extra detail there - I just wondered if you'd seen those?

cheers

its probaly true actualy my ford orion had a lot less body roll than an escort does

its a well known fact that saloons handle better than hatches :)

you beat me to it Stuart , saloons always handle better than hatches , it was the same with the golf and the jetta ,you could take roundabouts a good five to ten mile an hour faster in a jetta as the structure was less flexible due to the smaller rear opening

Rigidity is only one factor...a 740 estate handles better than a saloon, for example.

The 300 saloon is supposed to be more tail happy thanks to that extra weight out back. In the 360 that's probably a good thing, but it might be a little scary in the already quite slidey 340. Bear in mind that the 300 hatches have much better weight distribution than most, so the saloon might be 'too much'.

As it happens, I read Hugh's post as not relating the body roll statement to the saloons - I think it meant minimal bodyroll across the range. I think we need to bear in mind that many of our cars could do with signficant work doing on the suspension. Many complain of worn shocks, etc. I'm not saying it'll transform it into a Lotus, but the combination of 'design for comfort' and aging components isn't a good one! For a start I need to get under mine and replace a load of bushings.

cheers

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have now found my 1989 300 brochure and here it is scanned for your enjoyment!

http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/vol ... chure.html

I knew it was in my room somewhere, I'd had a major tidy and put it somewhere very safe, so safe I couldn't find it! Some interesting pictures in the brochure, shame it was a little damaged before I got it. Take a look at page 18, it appears as though they've tried to cover or edit out the recirculation button! I've not seen any recirculation buttons on any 360 GLT's after about '87, which is odd. Also notice how none of the cars shown have air con!

Enjoy.

Pete
