After much hunting around i found some good ones at an affordable price. All the very lightweight ones i was lookin at would be about $700 a wheel after import duty, tax and shipping was added on.

I ordered a set of Racing Hart CP-035 wheels today. $195 each for the 15"x6.5", they dont look too bad IMO and to top it off they weigh a whole of 3.9kg each.

Should be on the car with photo's 4 u all by the end of nxt week.

How do 16s/17s look on mk2/3 300s though? I'd have thought it would be better to go for the smaller rims, since they should look ok, and not get such low profile tires (cheaper/possible, i don't know much?) - I'm guessing this combo (if possible) would also be lighter...

I won't be fitting any on mine unless I can find the proper early 300 alloys that were sometimes fitted on mk.1s, since I'm not sure anything else would look good with the funny front end.

I dunno...you've just always talked about 17s or 16s before! I'm running 15, and I'm not sure I'd want to go much bigger for daily drive usage. Here is a 360 GLT running on 17s...

I think those rims will look sweet! 185/55 or 195/50 are the right tyres BTW.

Yeah... The 17s look waaay to big... Yuck. Painted drums. Good idea! Why not draw attention to how rubbish your brakes are.

That is a car even rarer that yours Mick - a 360 GLT Redline!

Painted drums are a no-no, but there's not a huge amount wrong with having rear drums on a 'normal' car. Many cars today have them unnecessarily...you only really need them on performance cars, and large performance cars at that.

And I'm not taking any burberry cap references from the guy who's going to put Redline (magazine) stickers all over his car sm53....although I agree it's not the best look. Having said that, we could do with more V3M members who are interested in doing slightly wilder stuff!

cheers

hell yes i was tempted by bigger wheels, the only thing that stopped me getting 16's was the fact that i had organised 15" tyres as i was doubting finding 16" wheels at the weight i wanted at the price i wanted. mind you 15's will be fine

The end caps, which i have 4, maybe 5 of, i doubt i'll be needing them, though 1 has a hairline crack around the edge and 2 of the others are very faintly fogged. aside from that, which you likely wouldnt notice at a glance anyway, their fine.

i got my wheels today. They look really nice to and will have pics up tomorrow, didnt get a chance today, work during the day and its too dark now for pics. I must say i didnt thing that changing just the wheels would affect the handling, but the car has much lighter and more responsive steering. It did feel like it was more eager to accellerate, but i didnt measure the new 0-100 time to see whether it is a tad quicker or whether i'm just trippin. The only thing i dont like about em is that you can definately see the brakes now, so they might be on the list after i finish with the cars suspension

Anyway pics will be up 2morrow when i take em.

technically the car should perfom better all round - smoother ride, more responsive steering, better accelleration, top speed, and fuel consumption.

but maybe not :)
