Guess this can be my new mincing thread lol.
As Ben and John are aware, I had some (self inflicted) woes on Monday (my birthday too, what a great present) lol
I acquired and modified twin electric fans for the 360 to replace the singular one I had modified from a Primera.
ATM these are mostly there for asthetic reasons, it fills in the centreless grille and is pretty 'hardcore' which is the look I am after with this car. Well I like them lol.
So I replaced the bolts holding the fans to their housings with long m6 bolts that go straight through the fins of the rad.
It seems I managed to nick the second core when I pushed the bradall tool through. Serves me right for not removing the bumper I guess!
It seemed fine when I fitted them but the next morning the system was bone dry! I refilled it and it was cascading out! See
vid
The water spilling towards the back was caused by the header tank overflowing on refill. For a split second whilst on my knees I thought WTF is it coming out of there for.
That was taken on the way home, having made more water stops than a steam wagon and purchased an £11 bottle of KSeal that I may as well have (and did in a way) poured down the drain!
I looked/phoned around and wasn't prepared to pay the price for new/reconditioned rads but luckily FJ brought me over a single core 1700 340 affair that looked like it could be a goer.
It was then, after I removed the original rad that the hole was spotted.
Here's the video from when I leak tested it to confirm things.
Quite the boring post so far, right.

I has m0ar.
I removed some of the surrounding fins and repaired the hole with JB weld. Let it set and leak tested again. All A-OK this time around.
So I refitted my fans (lol) and stuck it back in. Filled her up and took for a run yesterday evening/left it stood for hours and not a drop.

Used it this morning for a second stage interview and it is back to it's best.
I don't expect my rad and water pump to last all that long now, so If they bite the dust it won't be such a surprise!
I have never had a leaky rad before, and assumed that to have that much water flying out then the core would be split open by a large amount - I guess not.
As she currently stands. not to everyone's taste I know. lol
