Still having -25.6C here, had most of day bit under -24C, but started to get colder after the sun went down.

No new snow and also wind has settled down quite a bit, loud bangs and cracking sounds around as trees are reacting to cold weather.

Noticed that my car's battery is in need of replacement, it turned motor quite slowly at morning when I was going to shop and it had been 1 hour in block heater, interior warmer could not melt windows in one hour, interior temp was -1C after that one hour of heating.

T-shirt + thin overcoat was plenty when I went to get some firewood across the yard (which is 40x60 meters).

This is 6th coldest November for 100 years and it started warmer than usual, cold is so severe that it probably makes new records for November, so not quite common for here either.

Actually not every winter we get temps near to -30C, sometimes whole winter coldest temp is bit over -20C, I'm still living closer to south than north part of our country.

Where north can have -20C south can still have +10C, our country is so long and position is such, that there is great difference in weather up north and down south.

Comfy +21C inside, no sign of cold creeping in, even heater is quite cold, so my little work to house seems to be paying off rather nicely. Last year this kind of temps all heaters were screaming at their maximum, so this is quite nice energy saving now.

Last night was around -20C, now only ~15C.. Locks work great because I keep them lubricated with gun oil. Door rubbers have also been treated with silicone stick.

How about weather in some parts of Russia then? http://www.foreca.com/Russia/Khandyga Our -20C seems to be summer compared to that.

They need their own special Siberian steel as common one starts to get bit brittle around -45C

Here temp goes up and down constantly, now -25.2C

edit: Coldest day of the year is November 29th, that is quite unusual, but at the moment it has lead of 0.7 degrees to 2nd place holder that was 8th of January.

Semi/detatched?
Semi, but other side is empty at moment and has been for 10 years, so effectively detatched...no neighbours! Makes heating a pain due to cold house next door.

It's now snowing here in South Yorks heavier than I've ever seen before. Appears to be coming in from Finland! Moist air coming straight off the Baltic, then heading west over Denmark then collecting more moisture from the North Sea, This has got to be the best/worst snow in the last 40 years or more, maybe since 1982/1962 or even 1947? (maybe wont stay for that long but if it keeps up we'll have a foot before breakfast!) This might not be as much as some places/countries, but for here this is a very rare given that we are not that far above sea level and we don't get much snow due to the Pennines rain-shadow. This East wind is always when we get 'proper' snow here. Photos to come from me and I'm sure others 2moro.

You get again more snow there before Christmas than what we get here

Next few days are promised to give some snow, but I'm not all too sure about that, since we switched from sea climate to mainland climate (or whatever that is called) bit less than year ago, our weather forecasts have been off by a mile, their models can't comply with this situation, which some reckon is because sea temps and sun activity plays some part of and have not been taken account into models properly.
Similar cold has happened many times before, especially during 1800 was quite common, when gets really bad, then we will have really hard time as that can lead to cold and rain during spring, when seeds are put to field.

Worst weather comes when switching back to sea climate as that usually means really cold summers, we can only wait and see what comes next and try to act reasonably without panicking and jumping into every bandwagon that goes past.

We've just had half an inch of white. Looks like the clouds are coming in the next hour though...
