But i'm kind of hoping the matt black comment was a bit tongue in cheek :? ?
If he wants to do bits of bodywork to it, and no doubt it would already benefit from a bit of TLC then matte black is an obvious choice really. Easy to do and probably more importantly, easy to repair!

If the car is primarily a skidder then I can see the appeal for a finish like that. Shame maybe, but my pulse isn't set racing by the site of a 300 either, so my opinions are maybe not best apprecaited here.

Yeh my volvo is a 1.7. Not plannin on an engine change, supposed to be 82 hp I think, thats why it needs to be stripped.
im afraid im serious about the matt black, it hides any small defects and is easy to touch up when needed, this car isnt havin anything it doesnt need, but everything it does, even thinkin bout only buying alloys/banded steels for the front wheels (dont care wot they look like, just as wide as possible) and skinnys on the back.

Fair enough, i just think it's been done to death, there's a hell of a lot of colours you can get matt in which will be just as easy to touch in, maybe try something a bit less cliche' and it could end up being a decent individual car rather than a clone? Just my tuppence worth.

I had thought about matte grey but thats been done alot too. The thing is I was thinking about literally getting a roller on it, even if I dont it'll only be halfords spray cans. I wanna try n do everything myself, it needs a couple of plates welding in here and there and im keen to learn welding, woz too scared to try on the escort incase I ruin it! Some mite get away with a skim wiv a grinder and a bit of fibreglass to reshape, if I take bumpers and stuff off ill just fibreglass the holes up (take the area back to bare metal first tho)

if u build and maintain ur ford properly it doesnt break down.

U cant tell me a 340 is better than a saff cossie thats just stupid. Cossies require people wiv big wallets, I certainly wouldnt buy one, would love a cossie lump in my escort tho.

Both ur cossie and ur mk1 fiesta (running or not) wouldv increased in value over time. Ur volvo (and mine) will always be worth fuck

My mk1 fiesta is sittin in my garage going up in value

my mk1 escort shell is sittin in my garage going up in value

My volvo is running sweet as a nut! now iv screwed the jet in the carb back in properly and tightened up the idle control solonoid there are no flat spots and it loves gettin revved up to 6000 rpm, cant wait to stiffen/lower it then it might put a smile on my face.

Right... first warning on this thread.

Reel it in the lot of you. V3M is a welcoming community, mainly because we are all into cars. Jcred may have got a lot of peoples backs up but anyone with the decency to offer free parts before binning them, especially after the stick, fits into the V3M spirit.

This ends here, or my ban finger will start to get itchy.
