Still haven't got the logbook or the petrol tank back yet so I haven't been able to insure it. Won't be long I hope. I'm gagging!

I have not idea what seats they're out of mate, an rs something. The drivers one is LOW, so I may rip them out and put a pair of buckets in. It makes you sad in which way? As for the plates the bloke said he got pulled once, and he was driving erratically. I will be changing them, small square one on the front and a standard one for the rear as police forces around here will pick you up on anything. I'll try and get some pics of the air intake for you son, it'll be a few days though.

The engine bay's a bit tatty. I'm bidding on a plug lead cover now, and I know an auto electrician who can tidy up the wiring for me. Wouldnt mind painting the bay white and just generally tidying things up. As I stated got a few issues with the car at the moment, tank needs putting back under as it's dangerous, and sort out something with the exhaust. Also the bonnet is off it's hinges, so bonnet pins or a fibreglass one is on my wish list if anyone knows of one.

In general it goes very well. I'm going to enjoy it.

As for ASSet, got to sort something out with the brakes (pads & discs in stock), bonnet is mega rusty, boot lock and some other bits and bobs. Up until an hour ago I was going to sell the red one, as space and money are tight, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

I will be welding the diff on the 5 spd in Kermit, so I can have some dry fun in it. Landy shocks when I've got spare cash too. If I can get a new bonnet for the red one, then I'll have a go at respraying it. It's all down to money. The BMW is nearing mot time, and I'm doing my 1st rally in the drivers seat in may in the 205, so I need to get forest tyres and do bits on that 1st.

I believe you have HAI (as opposite of CAI) kit installed

Maybe heat shield or box around filter and tube from front of car to get cold air to filter?

That rear part of engine bay tends to get rather warm from my experience, but this is with redblock, however I don't think it is lot different with your engine. I had filter at cold side of engine near strut top and when I moved it to near headlamp area I could feel difference in go and it got away with much more advance at low throttle.

There are vents/grill on the bonnet, so I thought rather than make the cold air feed pipe turn 180 deg out of the throttle body then to the front I'd leave it at that. I'll try them both though.

180 degree turn is bad idea, imo. Just noticed that indeed you don't have heater box anymore, so that might give some cool air, but I think some heat shield box might be useful. On that grille area there should be small overpressure where airflow from front of bonnet comes down and then turns to flow up to roof, so that tries to push air from outside into vent. However, air from engine bay is trying to exit trough that vent too and that flow is imo stronger.

Best is to fit one of those cheap outdoor temperature gauges and see what kind temps you see, just pull wire and sensor from between door and bonnet and drive around, then do changes and while sensor is again near to filter drive around and you know what effect it has to temps.

In my latest version I had pipe from foglamp hole to air filter box, I got few kPa extra of air pressure (measured from intake manifold) with that and temp at intake manifold was same as outside temp, it was nice as car run stronger when I got more speed

Call me strange, but I'd actually like to have MORE chrome on mine. Something similar to the 264 / 760 grille

Though I admit in garth's case, the grille would look better without the chrome trim, next to that matt black bonnet.

I'm sure Ive asked this once, but if you dremmel the volvo diagonal line of the grill, how do you get the recess flat if you know what I mean. I'd love a debadged grill, just need a step by step guide to making one. Also, is it the glt front splitter holds fog lights? Are the rare? I'd like to put some amber fogs in. Not to drive around with them continuously on mind.

In my 360 GL there are places for fog lamps, just need to remove that plastic cover.

I don't know if 340 was without them places completely?

GLT had fog lamps standard.

I'd guess you can even out the missing grille bits with epoxy resin / plastic padding / whatever, smooth it out, sand it down and paint the whole thing once you're done. Lots of hard work though. Maybe someone else has better advice?

Oh and according to the parts catalogue, the front splitter is the same on B200 and D16 models (for a strange reason which I really can't understand) - and it has holes for fog lamps. B14 and B172 models though don't have ready-made holes. So it isn't even a GL/GLT-only thing, more like a 360-only (and Diesel-only? :? ) feature.

(1.4/1.7 3342036, 1.6D/2.0 3342037 + 3298422+3298423 grilles if you like probably-NLA part numbers ;) )
