Ali's drift 360 project
nobodys bickering, just confused, i had no idea there was a seperate secret internet society where you talk about it away from here, lol.
just this thread went on for ages with no mention of it being a breather issue till i remembered this wasnt a turbo car originally, then it became obvious so mentioned it, and then magically, it was fixed.
if idve known you guys had already told ali that was the problem as was only pretending not to know on here, idve left you to it, soz.

It was talked about on MSN a few days ago as a possible cause...but to be fair, it wasn't taken that seriously. It was only earlier when you mentioned it that I thought about it a little more and the penny dropped that it was set up differently NA vs Turbo. Pressurising the breather system was never going to be a great idea
I was shattered when reading the MSN conversation, in the middle of various other things, and didn't really think it through. The penny really should have dropped earlier...but hey...
Hands up, I was wrong about the turbo, and I'm only too happy to admit it. I don't think any of us can afford to be too smug - several people have made sugggestions which proved to be wrong, but it doesn't mean they were stupid ideas. As I said, it was a team effort.
I can't wait to get a ride in this thing
cheers
James

Ahhh sweet yeah i'll let you know Lee, today my mate got his "m sport" 328i coupe (auto) and we have a speed test we always do so I know its accurate that we were both flat out, its faster than the beemer haha, by 3mph, its trapping 17mph faster than a standard 360

That's something I've been wondering about too. It's single-wall rubber, IIRC, rather than the reinforced stuff they use there on the turbos. At present, I'm planning to go with it, but if Ali finds that it's prone to splitting, I may well change my plans
The 7/900 turbo piece looks like it should fit AOK, so it ought to be simple to rectify.
We do a similar speed test on Drum Hill, just north of Derby on the A38. Fitting the 40s and the cam put 25mph on the 'trap' speed. Amusingly, thanks mainly to lighter weight and much better gear ratios, Nessy will trap it just as quickly as the standard 360 (carb) did!

Thank god, I started to be worried at the moment, but good old Ali shows how he has not lost sanity just yetAli wrote:FULL PRICE? I didn't pay anything for it hahaha, got a box of hoses off a mate which included some nice samco blue stuff (not actual samco i dont think but cant remember)

Cheap is only good thing, newest shoes I have are bought before I bought Volvo, what!? Those are just fine, no extra holes or excessive wear will do few more years
