nice v8 supercharged. My dads got the v6 had loadsa probs with it, wishes he bought the v8 now. Anyway the s types aint worth a wank, my dads only keeping his coz he cant sell a car thats cost him £7000 (new engine and gearbox) for £1500 (current value).

If I ever get a v8 it'll be a Rover v8 for my mk1 escort.

u cant hate fords that much coz they built ur jag!

Sorry to dissapoint but mine stands me at nothing as my brother gave it me 2 years ago as he bought his range rover sport as he new i liked it .And i rent it out on weddings so it giving me more back than having a ford standing in any garage rusting away.m8 i could buy any mk 1/2 escort mint or not like i said i have a very fat wallet. fords are just not reliable .I would rather stick with my mint 340pw :340: ..I been in alot of clubs being ford/vw/vauxhall and there nothing like volvo300 owners that are very helpful when you need help.m8 just thrash then crash your blueline and stop buggin US............................ sm6 sm6 sm6 sm6 sm6 sm6 sm6

U couldnt buy my escort coz its never for sale.
alot of the 'mint' escorts out there are not mint at all. I know people wiv big wallets who hav spent 30 grand on a restoration only to hav it redone by the man whos doin mine. Anyone wiv a truely mint escort wouldnt sell it. I havnt got a big wallet but I do have the car of my dreams.
As for the rust, iv cut it all out.

Free v8 jag? Bargain.

If it was me id sell it and buy another escort altho its cool that ur makin money by renting it out.

Every1 has there own opinion about cars.

If only everyone on this site would understand that.

I guarantee ur volvo is not mint. Mint to me is car painted everywhere, no rust, every nut, bolt and clip brand new or replated, all welding work hidden etc etc etc.
Before u say that I dont know the difference between mint and concourse, concourse is as above but every part original as it left the
factory, my escort will not be concourse, it was a 1300E and im changing everything to rs2000, I dont like the wood on the dash so I aint having it, I dont want door cards etc etc. I build my cars how I like,

I couldnt giv a toss wot the ford boys think of my ideas and I sure dont giv a toss wot u lot think of my volvo.

I think this website needs a new name http://www.ifuvgotavolvo300umustkeepito ... noraks.com

Hi Jcred22.
Last week i had a go at you for intending to trash your motor.
I think i was out of order and apoligise.
This place is for friendly people who love their old motors but in the end,its
your car and you can do what you wish with it.

What a good idea :-)

I think you'd be very hard pushed to find an original car on V3M though. Even Ian Mac's car has non-OEM plastic wheeltrims ;-)

Nice to see everyone getting along now lol. Trust me though Lowvol, Jcred is right, it won't be!

I have mine in bits at the minute and it was a very clean car to begin with, never mint, but calling it scabby etc would have been harsh - the rust is everywhere on them.
If you remove the factory underseal and seam sealer you will find it! Eating away at your sill bottoms, lower inner and outer front arches. Rear crossmember, behind the front strut towers from underneath, jacking points etc. It's all there, just happily breeding behind the OE protection lol.

Mine won't be mint, but I am doing similar to what Jcred says, strip it all bare, clean, renew, replace then start again.

Even then, after all of that it is still festering away inside box sections, sills etc.

I dilike the overpopular and misused term of the word 'mint'. I would describe your car as very clean, but when people claim ZERO rust on a car of such an age it is BS when it comes down to it.

I wish some of this post had a lack of truth :(

If someone claims that a shell has no rust, 99% of the time it means they havn't done enough work on it to understand the problem

Mine has no rust, because i don't like it and keep my eyes shut when i am under it

seriously though mine cost 10Euros and only has light surface rust underneath/mud/dust as it was kept in a hot climate the arches have no rust at all , had the front arches off and there was nothing crusty at all. (unlike chris c's experience  )
the main rust that's happened since being in the weather is under the door windows, just depends how and where it was brought up.

How can someone say my 25.000 car is not minto .when it has spent its life in a heated garage by the last owner. just like it is now .it only comes out at weekends and the odd time to goes to work when it indoors then ...you say they are all rusty so mine must be concourse then. as no one could find any rust what so ever how hard you try...the problem is that it seams that everone on here wants to strip the old engine out weld the diff then thrash it to an inch of it life.mine is drivern like miss daisey polished and washed every day .and it is serviced every 1000 miles .SO THIS MEANS TO ME IT IS MINT ..i have been a mechanic for 20 years so i no what a clean car looks like and mine is far more than clean....yes the engine is alittle dirty..so me and my brother that owns his garage in stockport are removing the engine painting and chroming the engine .OK some my say this will not affect what its worth but that would finish it off...funny thing is when you want a mint escort it would defo need welding.mine will never need welding money no object when it comes to my cars.. like when my 5gt turbo comes then there is no reason to use volvy....then she will only come out to be MOTED and TAXED.....Image

My aren't we touchy. Strip it bare then claim it's mint. You can't sy it will never need welding when you don't actually know what condition the structure of the car is in given that it is covered in underseal and sealent.
Heated garages will also accelerate rust.

Or pull your window trims off and see if it's going under there. This might only affect the chrome window frames though, unless the black ones are metal too?
If the are I can guarantee it will be going there.

By the way I'm not jealous or anything, yah it's a nice clean car, but 5 door 1.4's aren't for me. Just thought I would get that out there.

I only say this is I have pulled a few of these cars to bits now - including my own low mileage 360 that was sat unused in a garage for 15 years - and I know where they like to go. inside your front valance will no doubt have a few tin worm setting up shot too btw.

Chill out mate. What do you want, after a few external and an under bonnet shot do you want every single comment to agree with you and say it won't have a spec on it anywhere? I don't like lying to people. As a matter of fact if you love it so much now would be the ideal time to strip it down and renew the underside protection.
