Re: I should really update this lol

Post by OapEM » 01 Oct 2009 09:18 pm

Done a few jobs on this since the last update.
Most notably some nice Defender 90 shocks and new brake flexi hoses.
Some TLC will be required shortly in a few areas, but now I'v sorted my garage so I can get the Lolvo in to work on when I want to it's cool.
Cheers to John and Ron. 340pw

The I decided it was about time I had the Vario style open bumper vents.
It can't be that much of a fuck on surely?
Image
Bumper off. Gotta be the easiest to remove out of any car I've ever known! Nice to know they can be removed so easily, can tell these cars were made in the days people still left their doors open. lol
They look nuts like this. Even more so with the grille out too lol. Those chassis legs are crazy.
Image
I then had the fun task of seperating the bumper from the carrier/crash bar. The only way to do this was to bolt the bumper back onto the car and pull the bumper away leaving the carrier bolted to the chassis - it didn't want to come off lol. This was of course after I had bent the tabs back that were holding the chrome trim onto the carrier and the tabs holding the back of the bumper.
Image
As can be seen the plate that blanks the grilles is part of the carrier. FFS. lol.
Image
Out with the tin snips. No grinder today, I was wearing shorts lol
Image
and in the spirit of my Nissan build, some ghey ass weight saving lol
Image
and done. A slight improvement y0.

V.nice dude! I want grilles - not holes!!! No fair!

Does look mental with the front bumper off. Just came back from jetwashing mine, looked great, until it dried. The faded red returned so deffo wanna get it machine polished asap - bet it would come up lovely! Had sum1 sat inside, no water ingress at all! V.impressed, but now my drivers side tail light has stopped working cuz the hole where the reverse lens fell out let water in, will look tomoz. Oh and a rear speaker doesnt work... may upgrade.

Still cant drift, didnt have a foot pump and didnt wanna be charged 50p for air. Altho the wet tyres from the jetwash gave me about 8yrds of fun - fingers crossed for rain. Total mileage since ownership - 32miles. Lovely and quiet. (Would txt u mate but CBA - soz for the thread hijack.)

Cheers Vee enN Dee 340pw

The LR shocks are stiff as fcuk! My fronts are from Johns old Vario so are quite bouncy in comparison! I need to even the playing fields lol.

Guess you mk3 boys can only fit Vario vents or have holes. :( It was a bit of a carry on to open mine but at least the option is there for the mk2's it would seem!

Nice work, looks pretty good with the new vents!

Con2k - think you might be asking alot for it to drift being completely standard, they tend to step out and straighten right up!

Yeah Steve - I'm not expecting alot atm but just a little taster would be good. I await a rainy day! Will lower it, but dont have the tools/money to sort that out this weekend and may weld the diff, but want it lowered 1st to see how it behaves.

Liam - remind me to get a video cable for my camera!

Cheers Steve 8) TBH Mate, mine was standard with open diff for a good while and it slid OK, not on all surfaces though unless it had been raining/low temps. Oooh like today :D

Conor, get a video cable for your camera! I want to see my near fail!

Actually I'll report back - I should be picking a 5 door twin of your GLS up tomorrow, and I've never driven a 360 with 13's, nor an earlier B19A engine either...

Sounds cool Steve! Aye, the 13's and torquey motor make for some fun :) Still amazes me even now how much low down grunt it has away from the lights etc - although when your tyres are as bad as mine it just lighs up    Just been to Newcastle and it's raining.

Already on it man.
Have a pair of immaculate origonal style white 13" 4x00 Wellers.
Finding the other two is proving harder than er, a big anvil.
Might have to go dished white minilites on the rear hoofs, and wellers up front.
Ive got matching centrecaps! :?

Wheels dont HAVE to match man.
Its just optional.

Twice the cool for the oldskool partial win.

8) 6J+ or GTFO BTW  Also I hope thats 100mm apart or your may find it difficult squeezing 00mm's on! 340pw

Yeah man, run two different sets, and look even more like a drit0r lol You gonna start playing with R,J and myself then dude? Do it. Do it!

I've noticed ML's and Wellers being sold in pairs by the race boys. It sickens me to my very core.

WHERE ARE THE OTHER TWO?! etc.

I think I need some tuition man. like seriously.
The two wellers ive got, came as singles. :!: from seperate sellers.
How do you end up with ONE good wheel?

At least you can use a pair!

Trying to avoid the 'all the gear, no idea' drift-knob look really.
But i recon while minilites and wellers look almost the same. going past at 86 mph.

Wellers FTW. if you twat a curb you just get the hammer out and if really bad the MiG!
Sounds canny like Ben, they definitley a matching pair? There's loads of daft differences. Must be about 7/8 designs of the classics.
I've got a sweet set 0f 13x7 ET10 Weller Circuits here but couldn't find anyone to cross drill them without me needing to sell an organ ffs.

Next time it's raining and we're out you'll have to be there too man. Not saying I'm DK or anything, but holding a slide etc is really easy. It's all down to the pretty good balance of these cars and the extra steering lock IMO. They flatter you.

Remember I said my rear tyres were bad ATM? It lit up at 60mph in 3rd going up the Bowes Incline before! I sort of encouraged it, i certainly let it hang out for a few seconds. Should have them changed very soon.
