I thought that was a lot of swarf?

Hehe, result of an winter drift accident (last winter) was a bit slippier than expected, and i took down a road sign

I'm looking at these...
Buy them! Cheap!
Its hard to explain but the hole in the top mount of the leaf spring is oval, but the top of the blocks is round, you just file that down so it get oval. You will see what i mean when you are to fit them, its a quick fix!

Messy.. But a smaller job than expected!

It's about what I'd expect, assuming the oil hasn't been changed in years.

Bear in mind that's probably all of the swarf in the whole box, since it's magnetic!

cheers

The box oil effectively never gets changed...it's certainly not a regular service item!

Looks like a lot of fun !! hehe

What about your front tyres NikDev ?! Are still ok ? I waste a lot the inside of my fronts when I drift with weight transfers mainly. The wheels dont point 100% ahead at the beginning and slide sideways... I explain myself ? haha

Maybe are my lack of hands, maybe the open diff or maybe it's the usual, I don't know

What are your experiences about that ?

Greetz from Spain man !!!

It could be the front springs are too soft and giving exessive body roll causing part of the problem.

I would say that the outside of the fronttires gets damaged mainly. Wich was at the drift day with my 340. (lighter front) I drove with open diff, stock front and stiff rear shocks en springs. (0. deg toe front)

No understeer at al because off the tire size choise: Front 185 /60- 14 Rear: 155 /80- 13

Do you have a lot of toe out meintag?

My frontwheels\tires are damaged at the outside!
I am thinking of stiffer springs, and a withline swaybar (if i can get one) will help sort that!

It's not hard to see why they are getting damaged on the outside, look at how far the tyre has rolled in this pic on smooth road, add any sort of bump or crack in the pavement and it will roll even more, you need to get some wider tyres that fit the rims a little better, tyres aren't designed to bulge out to the rims like that. I think firming up the front might even make the problem worst, as it will put more load on the tyre.

I know, probably going for 205\50 next season, but this can also be an result of lack of tire pressure? forgot to fill and check the wheels before i went out on track, i was too exited.. Thanks you for the comment, what would you do with your car if you wanted to start drifting?

And i would like to send my compliments to the photographers! I have found lots of pics of me in action, hehe

We use our car as a daily driver with the two kids and the missus drives often, don't really want to set it up for drift as i'm sure the wife would loop it off into the scenery the first time it rained.

However, seeing as you asked thoughts for my car, i do want it to slide reasonably easily, i did used to own a turbo s13 silvia after all, so i'm definately missing the sideways fun, i want to get some spax adjustable rear shocks, so i can set them soft for daily driving and try to keep the car a bit neutral for the wife, and when i want to play i can firm them right up, up front i fitted the whiteline swaybar, It's fecken stiff which means i'll be able to run reasonably soft springs when i lower it a bit, I was thinking doubling the spring rate, maybe even more, before i got the bar, but i don't think i'll need to now that the swaybar is keeping the load off the springs a bit. just lowered 25mm or so and 1.5 times the spring rate might be ok, i don't want to lower more as i do some dirt roads. Dunno what shocks to run in the front, i'll have to keep reaserching that a bit, and wouldn't mind renewing as many bushes ect as possible.

wheels i'm going to keep my current 14 x 6 wheels with a +10 offset, the wider track adds to the look of the car, but they do scrub on the outside guard a touch on the rear when fully compressed, for the rear i would just run the shittest 185/60 money can buy and the front i'm looking at some falken rt615, they come in a 195/60 14, should give heaps of grip, at the expense of tyre life.

These mods should give a car that's alright to drive daily but still fun when it comes time to play, it'll look like a pussbox as my body ir really rough, but should give a few people a surprise. most people here in Aus don't even know what it is.

Some good thoughts there!
I Did`t see one 300 in Australia when i was down there in this fall! Nice city you live in BTW! Saw some sweet cars there too, especially one ae86 who i fell in love with
I sometimes have the need to do things different, here in Norway everyone are drifting in bmw`s and Nissan that`s why i am spending money on this old Volvo.... But getting it competitive wont be cheap!

Just got home a couple of 45 weber`s, but still got a lot to do with the engine part. Need to get a ported 531\405 head, maybe a balanced b23\230 bottom etc...
Hoping to get close to 200hp, that combined with a good suspension setup sounds nice in my head.. :P
