Volvo 340 1.4 to f7p build thread.

It started life as a 1.4 dl, i know sexy....

First job was to start pulling bits out, back seats and most of the interior went, aswell as the 1.4 lump.

I then got the valver engine off a friend of mine who has replaced it with a vw 1.8 20v turbo in his mk 1 clio, soon got to work at it with tools and of course the angle grinder, to lose some bits that i dont need.

I spent a while searching for parts as i needed a few 1.7 parts to get the engine in, I got bored doing nothing so i got on the poly bushes.

I managed to find a sump, but the 1700 bell housing was proving hard to find, and as i need a few other bits i got my self a rotten donor car off ebay for £200, I robbed it for any useable bits, along with all the conversion parts and then scrapped it. (Spot the cat)

Now i had all of the conversion parts that i needed i had a play with the engine just to see how it would fit, I had also got hold of some 15" ats cup wheels, which i think look pretty good on a 340.

I was unsure what to do with the interior, and could not decide if i wanted to strip it all or not, I ended up with the back stripped with most of the front being left intact. I have put in sparco sprint seats, and baught some new sparco 4 point harnesses and an omp steering wheel.

I thaught she was riding a little high so i got some classicswede fully ajustable front and rear dampers along with lowering blocks for the back and stiffer and lower springs for the front, was looking much better after.

When the engine was properly mounted i set about moving the air filter as being crushed up against the bulk head can't be good for getting in much cold air... So i relocated it to behind the front headlight.

I fitted a one of 340glt's fuel pumps, along with replacing all of the original fuel line.

Now the car was up and running properly (allthought with no exhaust) i tried to tidy it up a little by just general cleaning and painting the bumpers black and bits of the engine when i was bored , sorry for the dodgy photo

I was going to try and mangle my own exhaust but in the end decided to just go for a full custom stainless exhaust from the mani back, Its a good job and the noise is epic out of the valver lump.

Love it on the Cups, I had plans to fit some on my old Valver but never got round to it. There so common on the dubs and I was really suprised nobody had picked up on how good they would look on a 300! Love it!

BTW dude, what drop did you go for with the lowering kit? It looks very similar to mine ride height wise

Hmmmm looks quite similar to mine but I went 3" all round. Spose I won't properly know unless i saw yours in person. Like I say dude, it looks absolutely stunning, great work!

Thanks, The exhaust cost me £350 inc vat, but its a good job, they made me a downpipe with a lambda boss welded in, and put in a centre and rear box so its is pretty quiet too below 4000 rpm, and above that its sounds sweet!

Thanks, The exhaust cost me £350 inc vat, but its a good job, they made me a downpipe with a lambda boss welded in, and put in a centre and rear box so its is pretty quiet too below 4000 rpm, and above that its sounds sweet!

Not too bad if the cars a keeper I recon.
Its a big outlay, but then its buy and forget as long as you dont knock it off!
