(for all the purists out there the car was no where near as good as it looked. so was a prime candidate for a skidder)

now this was allways aimked to be a budget build, so the parts for the car needed to be cheap as chips, because the way i saw it iw as very inexpierienced and would probably stack this car hard.
so the first thing was to get the very sloppy open diff welded. beign a metal fab by trade this wasnt a problem, added to that a chopped and trampy stainless side exit, and all was well.

it drove around like this for a couple of months, untill catastrophy!!! the bottom pully on the belt failed bending a few of the valves on the head.

the car spent a month off the road untill a very kind volvo breaker up noth sent me down a new head for £60 posted! love the cheapness of the volv!
it had allways been my intenet to paint the volvo, a friend had a olive drab military like one, and determined to go one better i whipped out the brushes, and many magners later in the summer sunshine, and with the help of my friends. it slowly took shape:

while the car was off the road i took an angle grinder and adjusted the stance a little

next up was a couple of ebays finest, grey cobra bucket seats,
two pieces of bar per side later, and they were all fitted in.

i had allways been a fan of smooth badgless grills, and though the volvo would be a prime candidate, so with one of the many spare grills i got with the car, i set about fibreglassing and smoothing untill this was the result.

so with the seats, stance, and car stripped, it was time for the safety device that you all want to know about:
the cage!
now having accsess to a metal fabricators and mucho mucho bar, meant that this was knocked up in a weekend.
behold:

so with the car now running, thanks to a new head, and bottom pulley and gasket set.
the cage was in and the car was at a stage i was happy with,
well that was untill these came up, and i instantly purchased them:

a lick o paint;

so the car was now finished. i put many hours into it, and belive me it got used daily like this.
many shocked and confused looks on peoples faces when i drove around in it.
a final parting shot of it with the golf spoiler on the front, and the tinted lenses.

unfortunately as i said, the car wasnt in great condition to start with, and the rust monster did indeed take this one victim. but i have never had so much fun, for so little money, and i have well and truely caught the 300 bug.
thanks all.
