im finding it very difficult to find a company that will just take me home if i break down at a cheapish price
i dont want to pay for all those extras because if it breaks down and i cant fix it then no one will so i just want taking home
anyone know any good places that can give me a link to

I can recommend GEM - Guild of Experienced Motorists - breakdown/recovery service, having used them a fcouple of times in recent years.

Basically it's a sort of insurance. You pay about £50-60 a year. If you break down, you phone them up and they send out a recovery service from near to wherever you've broken down, then take you and the car to wherever you want - home, garage etc.

You have to pay the recovery driver the fee for getting you home, but then send in a claim form to GEM and within days, they pay you back the money that you spent on the recovery.

You also get a interesting quarterly members magazine and various other membership offers.
