B19A Not idling correctly when warm

Post by SteveP » 11 Aug 2010 11:41 am

My 360 GLS has had an issue idling of late... a couple of weeks ago it was idling at about 500-600rpm, but last night it has got progressively worse, initially it was idling at about 300rpm and now longer wants to idle at all and stalls. Which made pulling up to roundabouts/traffic lights interesting last night  I also think it seems to be feeling very flat at WOT compared to what it used to, but this only happened on the latter part of the journey so I'd need to drive it again to find out for sure.

I haven't investigated anything so far, it was dark and late when I put it in the garage last night - so just looking for some pointers where to start really, it has the Stromberg CD175 carb which I'm hoping to get a spare from Liam to refurb anyway, so if that's whats needed I'll do that!

Doubt it is because it needs a rebuild per say bud, sounds like the same as VND's problem and you have an air leak with her then going lean.

Have a feel on the throttle spindle, the bearings in there are a service part (you'll do the new ones in the rebuild) and are one cause of airleaks but that'd come over 50,000miles rather than in a week. I reckon perished hose or something.

Probably a clogged air bypass passage due to crank breather fumes.

See if the bolts on the inlet and exhaust manifold are tightened correctly
