new car....

Post by Janitor » 21 Apr 2004 06:03 pm

on saturday i collect new 360 glt ! 1983 2 door red in ok condition for being 20years old,bit rust on the back arches but apart from that it is ok.its a 450 mile round trip to get it so i will find out how good the engine is on the ride home.hope it doesnt brake down  .
hopefully it will last the summer, and longer, but when its beyond economical repair i will have a full set of spares for my other car. it has MINT alloys on(14" volvo),but i will put manta14" alloys or 13" alleycats on i think. i have a couple of photos but can never put them up for some reason....D0h
the seller has panels, interior bits and pieces, and wheels which he going to get ready and give me when i collect.dont know exactly what is there as he only sent a short e-mail to me today.
i'll try post saturday night and let you know how its doing....

picked it up today-no problems driving home(240miles)!!
the photos do not do the car justice-it is far better !!
the spares were;
set of volvo spark plugs
driver side(rhd) door skin
front "bib"(goes between front bumber and headlights-on later models the bumper goes right upto the headlights)
rear plate togo under numberplate
reversing light sensor
mmm and a few other bits and pieces all new genuine volvo parts.
it has a new full exhaust too !!
brakes arent very good-think 1 of the discs is warped and the front wheels want balancing-apart from that it is A OK......
i have a digi camera now so i will take some snaps of it and some of the rally car and post them as soon as i get time !

i was quite tempted by that one - nearly bid on it - i like the pre-84 style front end to the ones with the bigger bumpers..

i have loads of them !!
because all my stuff is all over the place, some at home, some at brothers(3 garages),some at mum n dads n some at grandmothers garage i dont know where they are !
i usually run 13" rims to lower gearing a bit BUT will keep alloys that are on car because they are in A1 condition ! i will have a run about with my camera hopefully this weekend(if i dont go camping in lakes)and post some pics of the rims i have !! i wont want much for them but bare in mind i think you can get about a £5 for a scrap 1 !!??
last time i was at my bro's he had 35 rims n tyres !!!!!!!!!
believe it or not sometimes when on gravel we use 155 13's on front to make it turn in better. last year i bought 11 ,5.5x13 alleycats for £100
bargain :D

i really like them ones there.. if you have a set of those spare then let me know :)

afaik, the 13 and 14" rims both have the same size tyre on (17" outer diameter) so surely the gearing would remain the same?
